New to this forum. Hi! I’m Matt.

I have owned my car 6 months now so thought I’d share what I’ve done so far to get from this:

To this:

Here is a selection of my car history:

And here is my ‘build thread’ of my 135i from standard:

Wheels done gloss black

BMW performance discs

BMW performance spoiler

Wanted those yellow halo’s gone

Tried the HID route first with a wiring harness

No ‘sun glass protection’ option from the factory frown

This will have to do

HID kit in the halos too bright for night time driving, have to go

http://www.burgertuning.com/jb4_pnp_BMW_performanc...
My car has the JB4 from Burger tuning installed, read ^ for info.

Splitter fitted

Car looks like it’s ready for off-roading it’s that high?

http://www.burgertuning.com/dcintake.html
More goodies from America, standard map boosts at 7psi, with the standard upgrade map it will at 13.5, with the dual cone intakes from Burger Tuning, the JB4 has the turbos blowing at 14.5psi on map 2 that is (switchable maps via the steering wheel controls)

There is an auto tuning map on map 5, which works well too to the current conditions (intake temps etc)

My ‘fun’ track day car is starting to be boring now my ‘normal’ car is getting wilder

HID kit no good, time for some nice LEDs

No HK like on my M3, so have to dig down deep to my chavy roots smile

What a piece of take with the battery in the boot, and take the remote cable from the boot 12v socket

Hard part was finding the rear speaker cables then working out the colours

Spot the bmw ramps

http://www.burgertuning.com/bmscdv.html
Clutch value bored through, like above but easy diy just to knock the reducer out

http://www.burgertuning.com/clutch_stop_BMW.html
Clutch stop fitted too

Cat-less downpipes will mean more power and boost

Are we trusting those plastic Bosch valves for more than double standard boost?

No.

Springs fitted

Sitting snug now, little lower than I was expecting?

On our way to Ultimate Street car @ Santa Pod

Practical vehicle!

‘Warming’ my tyres on the line took its toll

New rubber

FORGE

Wanted to hardwire in a SatNav

Water pump failed! Well not really the pump or motor, the aluminum body corrodes and pushed the plastic pump housing away until it cracks and leaks! £550 from BMW UK, got one for £300 from the US

I had a ‘small’ incident at this point, which I am now blaming on the tyres, I believed it to be something on the road surface as I had no traction whatsoever, but have now learnt it to be the tyres I believe, read on..

Ouch

In to BMW for a check, and service too.

Playing with some big boys, If anyone wants videos of me being faster than a 911 GT3, or M5, or KEEPING UP with a 458 Italia, just ask wink

Dropped 20p I wanted to find..

On the rollers again, spinning them up, needed some weight in the boot

BMW performance gearknob and alcantara gaiters

Had a few problems with the car the last couple weeks:
Things happen in threes? So hopefully all done…

Had a misfire on the rolling road under hard boost, diving in to investigate..

This is from cylinder 5 where I had the misfire, and turns out it was the plug and not coil, doesn’t look THAT bad does it?

Once new spark plugs cured the misfire, I had my serpentine belt snap on the motorway during some ‘enthusiastic’ driving with a Maserati, Not good

Was 40 miles from home and managed to get back on the single battery charge with all electrics turned off!

Poor car getting undressed again

New belt, and few other bits to sort out! Cars!

Bits of belt left

Was a right PITA to change, 2 man job

This will cheer me up, cheers to the babybmw forum group buy! Great price from Reiger

Also, headlight was letting in water, thought I had a bulb gone so got new 6000k to replace the standard 4300, 6k on right but cant really tell
It wasn’t the bulb, was the ballast as the sealed unit was letting in water!

Spot the new sticker, bloody girls.

Remember the tyre comment from earlier? I thought I slipped on diesel and that corner can be known for it apparently, until in the wet the car went straight in to a curb in a car park doing like 10mph!

Do not buy Federal, they were on the fronts new when I got the car and I was assured they were great, they seem to be in the dry, and letha; in the wet, just read these reviews:
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Federal/595EVO.h...
Why didn’t I! I always get good tyres ahhhhhh,
I had conti sport contact 5s on the rears as it needed rears when I got it, these on the front now:
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Goodyear/Eagle-F...

So yeah, don’t buy federal

Missed out on playing with these the next day as I was stuck waiting for the part to come

Time for the exhaust and diffuser

..and that’s me at the moment.

This may be on its way next week:
http://www.burgertuning.com/meth.html

Burger tuning take the car to 490bhp on standard turbos, I’m running 430 atm, could be 450 with a slightly more aggressive map and boost, just wondering do I need more, the car already spins up in 4th from any revs if its wet, and when bone dry every single time in 2nd and sometimes 3rd, really have to be careful with it!

Need to think I guess what more I want from it.

Thoughts, comments, and suggestions would be received gracefully.

Thanks, Matt

.

Well done, you now have the second non M1 1 series that I like the look of (the other being my mate's 123d with the entire BMW performance catalogue thrown at it).

Awesome car.

I want to see the videos.

Haha smile

Ok here are a couple of tame vids I can quickly show as they are already online.

The others are not! for obvious reasons
(I will upload the M5 one too as that doesnt show speedos or anything actually)

All these were taken not at current running spec, so dont judge too cruely.

I know a few members on here, leest will show up in a minute i'm sure smile

Ok:

Great car, you would transform the traction with a proper diff though. Something like the Quaife would be a great upgrade and allow you to more cleanly put the power down.

This is great, really impressed. Good luck in getting the power down though, my 1M struggles with just 340 bhp and 265 section rears and an LSD!

Very nice, just not sure about the body mods on the rear bumper and the exhaust.

I'd have gone more sleeper, but it's not mine so each to their own.

Looks like a bit of a dog's dinner to me (too low, tiny wheels, garish aero additions - all on a none-too-pretty car to start with), but there's no denying that it must be a hoot to drive.

I'm in this camp.

Headlight eyebrows. Just why?!
