Lotus Elise 111r

So after 8 months without a car circumstances allowed the purchase of the perfect winter run around. A 2005 111r in yellow with touring pack. Low mileage example with stage 2 exhaust and induction filter. Not really had a proper drive in it as the roads are terrible at the moment. First impressions are that it handles on rails and is very quick. Get quite a few funny looks driving about town.

Everything works. Brake pads need done in the next few months so debating whether to do it myself.

No real plans other than to enjoy some roof off motoring when the weather allows. Want to head up the west coast of Scotland in the summer for a weekend. Here are the pics.

Very nice. You will love it. Be careful at this time of year off roundabouts etc, they can get away from you very quickly. Many experienced Lotus owners have many tales to tell on this!!

Brake pad changes are very, very easy. Also, if you use the centre jacking point (there should be a label showing it under the cill) you can get the whole side of the car off the ground. Just remember that the rear calipers screw back where as the front ones push back.

Many pad options, I went for Mintex 1144's and found them to be a good all round pad with good feel.

Brakes are very easy. Remember to take the inspection hatch out to check on brake fluid filling when retracting the pistons. Avoid EBC pads. Had them on mine were scary to no existent in the cold. Make sure you coppaslip the wheel bolts as they are made of cheese and seize in the hubs.

Saw this in the classifieds recently, it's on my shortlist for the summer. Best colour by far, agree though that the 'LOTUS' lettering on the back doesn't look good, I'd be getting that back to OEM. Besides that looks perfect. Will be watching this thread with interest!

Yeah the rear lettering is on the to do list. Not sure if I should replace them or just put a badge on. Thanks for the.pad recommendations.

Hello fellow S2 owner! Get on seloc and find Junks. He sells the rear badge and sticker logo and also the raised lettering.

Take your pick but anything is better than that :-/

Possibly a silly question, but ref loose rear at this time of year.. I presume this means they all have a LSD?

I recently got rid of the rear badge on mine and went for L O T U S instead because I was replacing all the yellow and green badges with black and silver (which would look great on a yellow car, I reckon).

I don't think it does mate although someone correct me if I am wrong. Not seen anything in the handbook.

It is just a case of light car, mid engine, good power. On greasy roads they can snap away quite quickly and if you not really quick the weight transfer of a mid engine takes you around. Not unique to the Lotus by any stretch of the imagination but always good to point it out to new owners in winter time.

Did a nice low speed 180 in my S1 previously
