So after selling the ST3 to make a move onto the property ladder with the misses i got back into a 182 for some cheap motoring for a while.

The other week my friend asks me to go and look/test drive a slk55 amg for him as he's looking to take it back to Malta after Xmas, that was it I needed something I enjoyed again!

The car needed to be for both of us so she would sell her beetle cab and we would keep the 182 as the run around.

I went for a alpine white cab due to this being the only preference for the misses, i basically could pick what ever so long as the roof went down!

Spec
Dual clutch 7 speed auto box
Bmw assist
bmw online portal
Comfort assist
Cruise control
DAB radio
Electric seats and driver memory
Bluetooth
electric and auto dimming mirrors
Headlight assist
adaptive headlights
high beam assist
leather interior
harmon kardon system
m sport suspension and steering wheel
professional sat nav
front and rear parking sensors
heated seats
usb audio interface
telephone audio interface
voice control
xenons
Sports seats

It's just rolled over to 19k and has free maintenance/servicing up until September 2015 along with bmw warranty. The engine and box are epic doesn't take very long to pick up speed. The engine feels very n/a only really sign of turbo is the slight dump valve tsssh when letting of the throttle at high revs but even this is barely noticeable, the box is smooth and very quick on changes. It's also blips the throttle on down changes when using the paddles which is nice. It manages around 23-24 around town but on motorway you can see about 30-31 driving real careful. Anyways pictures was getting a little dark by the time I'd washed it.

Lovely, not sure I would get a cab but would definitely want a later one with the LCI nav and DCT. Definitely needs a de badging for that surprise element

I imagine the main giveaway that is has a turbo is the fact that it has much more torque than a N/A and so feels much stronger. Much more obvious than the tsssh of a quiet dump valve.

If it was N/A it would require much more thrashing to get moving.

It kind of is a wolf in sheep clothing the only give away that it's not a 120d with msport kit is the badge and front intakes in place of fogs and these.

Was toying with the idea of a 120d badge but I dunno maybe I'm a snob! Kinda want people to no it's a little less ordinary without having to thrash it! The engine is amazing though and really does pull. 5.5 seconds to 60 is not to shabby.

That is very nice. White would never be top choice for me but my boss...sorry, girlfriend...is the same and when I qualify, I won't be surprised if a white TT ends up on the drive...I'll have to choose the model to make up for it like you've done

Enjoy it thumbup

Me and my partner had a 120d cab and it was great, along came a child and we tried to make do but it wasn't happening, so we now have a five door golf.

Have to say though it looks great in white and bet that engine makes it a fun place to be?

That's really nice. I think this shape 1 series has aged really well in M Sport trim.

Any plans for it or s it staying stock?

Defiantly goes when it wants to I've had an r32 and tuned st and this feels a league ahead albeit a lot more refined on power delivery. But it's also real nice just to cruise about on long journeys or around town.

Just keep it stock I think, wanna keep the warranty to be honest and that's why I got it from a bmw dealer, with just getting on property ladder I'd rather not have massive bills! Even if a map does tempt me in order to toy around with e90 m3s. I may get a little genuine bmw boot lip spoiler but who nos I'll see. Just keep clean and enjoy for the moment.
