Have been regularly reading PH for a good year so decided I should sign up.
Got this car just after I finished university this year. Was initially looking for a diesel estate to sling all my mountain bike kit in at the weekends but couldn't quite bring myself to go down that route so went for something fun with a little bit of practical. The clio looked by far the best option in my budget.
Shortly after exams finished I started my hunt, saw about 10 different clio's before settling on this one. Thankfully it seemed easier to find the cup suspension equipped cars which is what I was after. I didn't really want it in black but this was by far the best example I managed to find. It certainly feels like a bit of a step up from the 58bhp 1.2 8v punto active my parents let me drive for the last 6 years.
Back home over the summer I took the back roads everywhere as it was just too fun. Also started to get acquainted with lift off oversteer on some of the roundabouts.
Now living in Bristol I have been meaning to explore the welsh roads for months but hadn't found the time. I hadn't been out for the sake of driving in too long. This saturday I remedied that and got over to the Brecon Beacons. Was a little keen, and set off at about 5am. Filled up with a tank of super and headed west.
Drove the B4560 in the dark, an interesting experience but I was the only one about. Meant to take my proper camera but in the excitement to get out the door i forgot it so some hastily snapped phone pics will have to suffice.
Then did a couple of runs over the B4520 between Brecon and Builth Wells. Was a lot of fun despite the dull witted sheep.
Finally ended up on the A4069. Definitely my favourite road on this trip.
Massive fun in the clio, such an easy car to throw around, very happy with my decision. Beats the hell out of the vague understeer monster that was the Punto.

Lovely car op, so much fun to throw about on the B roads like you said and at the moment they are stunning value. Yours looks great in the Black Gold colour too. From what I have heard from other owners they are more reliable than you'd expect which is always going to be a bonus! My good friend has got one similar to yours, its an 04 plate finished in Artic Blue. He has got the Scorpion RS192 cat back exhaust system which IMO is a worthwhile upgrade as it produces a nice exhaust note and does not drone excessively!

Jman93, tell your friend he is missing the small rubber front lip on his (you can see it on the op's car).
You will amazed at how just adding that back makes the front end look better, I had a 182 into in that blue and had the same problem.
Also, tell him to order it from skoda, as it's a fraction of the cost of the part from Renault plus the Skoda one is a more 'rubbery' compound than the brittle plastic Renault ones, hence why so many 182 a running around with no front lip.
You will amazed at how just adding that back makes the front end look better, I had a 182 into in that blue and had the same problem.
Also, tell him to order it from skoda, as it's a fraction of the cost of the part from Renault plus the Skoda one is a more 'rubbery' compound than the brittle plastic Renault ones, hence why so many 182 a running around with no front lip.

Yeah there are a couple of small mods I'd like to do in the future. Unfortunately I'm insured with direct line as they were over £100 cheaper than the comparison sites. They don't allow any mods at all. Will swap at renewal time.JoshV8 said:

Agree that Renault charge over the odds for it. I replaced mine twice

They don't but one of the fabia ones is a good fit. You just trim an inch or so off each end and use some self taping screws to attach it to the bumper. Costs ~ £14 to replace instead of the extortionate amount Renault charge.

Thanks for the heads up, we were let to believe that there is no lip because the car didn't have the cup styling pack specced. But now you say it maybe it did have one as standard, thanks a lot for saying and I shall tell him about the heads up on the Skoda version You will amazed at how just adding that back makes the front end look better, I had a 182 into in that blue and had the same problem.

Out of interest what sort of mods were you thinking? I've heard about the KTR induction kit and how good it sounds on YouTube but sadly never heard it in person

Nothing huge, induction kit and exhaust. There are very few gains to be had from tuning the engine in these. Also want the turini wheels.
