Ex police T5 against everyones advice? What could go wrong.

So being a special previously at the time, i had a 535i e39 that had just eaten itself with a catastrophic cooling failure considering repairing it then discovered its fall, a massive amount of rust forming under the boot which would cost more than the car was worth at 200k it was time to shop it in. Needing a car rather quickly due to a seriously ill nan moving from France to the UK so the parents could care for her i needed an estate, a quick glance of the classifieds relieved a few sheds for my budget and was after something recent reliable that would last a fair few years, next thing i knew the volvo was being decommissioned from service though she had some niggles to sort out i snapped her up as soon as i could, i knew a fair bit about her history aswell as problems (a reoccurring misfire being the main one)Got her outside sorted out and touched up gave her a good service which was badly needed. All my friends thought i was mad getting an ex cop car and i too had my doubts but how wrong they where.
Within 2 weeks i flew her to and from France 5 times averaging around 35 mpg, more than i was expecting and was pleasantly surprised and continued using her as my daily for the next 2 years racking up around 50k miles. All ive spent other than servicing was a few quid when a spark plug decided to fail and needed a control rod for its recent MOT. Shes seen 2 trips to Le man carrying 4 people and their luggage around for the week and a trip to Germany in of which i got the opportunity to see just how quick she could go, (faster than i expected given shes de restricted) Recently bought another shed which i'm using as my daily driver given the other half has now decided to learn to drive and have purchased a 406 2.1 TD for buttons i'll put another thread up in the near future with how thats going! Anyway some pictures
And just incase anyone asks, would i buy an ex cop car again? Yes i would.

What was the bodywork like after removing all the stickers? A friend used to do all of the Vauxhall stuff for the northwest and they were so squeezed-down on budget that they didn't have time to template the cars, so would just put the vinyl straight on then cut it in-situ with a scalpel

Couldn't you just drive?My question is (and it's probably been done thousands of times on PH) are cop cars fiddled with to make them faster?
A guy I knew had one of these too, he reckoned it had been re-mapped for bigger power, I wasn't convinced....

Derestricted yes, tuned no. Step dad bought an ex police vehicle and would buy another, he bought 'The cone killer' nissan terrano 2.7td manual with selectable 4 wheel drive (they may all be like this i dont know) she had in excess of 250k miles when he bought and he / mum put a further 30/40k on and the only issue they had was a worn thrust bearing creating a loud whining noise.
She was sold for the same money that was paid and it had a HUGE and extensive service history. In short they would do it again but you do need to choose the right car, no way they would buy a ford or vauxhall on those miles.
