I accept that the stripes and roof etc are a little controversial. So is the super sports exhaust!

Always been a fan of the XK, especially in the styling department. Must admit, I quite like this colour combo too - even with the stripes and all. It'll certainly be unique thumbup

Wow sorry but how to Chav and destroy a nice car. Who the hells' idea was that. The white around the grill is almost as bad as the "viper" stripes.

I do hope your other 13 posts are of equal value and thought.

As for the car, actually I quite like it, minus the stripes smile but each to their own. Any sound clips of the exhaust?

The mouth colouring is acceptable in my opinion. Quite reminiscent old 50's race livery and the stripes on their own I could get with but the two together don't really work, again just my opinion.

In forest green metallic with just an orange mouth and it would have been awesome.

Cool car colour scheme aside though.

Best looking XK I've ever seen. Always look a bit fuddy Duddy to me in that boring gun metal grey considering the noise and performance.
Like a British Dodge Viper, very nice OP.

That looks brilliant. I can't exactly see what is controversial about the roof. It looks as if its painted black?

I hope you don't mind me doing this. At first I though "oh those stripes look terrible" so I photoshopped them out which resulted in this. Its suddenly became too 'normal' and made me do a complete u turn on my opinion of the stripes! I think that looks great!

I did say it would prove controversial! one advantage of doing the stripes etc with vinyl is I can take them off. Yes the roof is vinyl too (very nice job done on it, thanks to the guys at colourbox). I've attached a photo of the original - without stripes. But like you say, I felt it just needed something. I will put a soundbyte into this thread presently - you won't be disappointed. It has proper V8 woofle and bark, a bit like a very refined TVR.

In reply to Dave hedgehog, I photoshopped a number of combinations before I settled on this one. The the black was just a bit to 'underground' for my taste, but everyone is different. Also, without an edge to the stripes they just looked cheap. Some Mini coopers have black with a white edging on the stripes and it just looked a bit cheap.

My problem is that I love the performance, I love the comfort, I love the flexibility, but I didn't want a grandpa car. I think the XK has that image, even though the car itself is pretty good.

Fantastic car! I'm not personally a huge fan of the stripes, but each to their own etc. I've never thought of the XKR as a grandpa car at all, and I know what a grandpa car is, believe me... smile

Good point, just badly made. It's distinctive, just not for everyone

Interior. Very comfortable, smells lovely, accommodates kids. Navigation system brilliant on getting you there, incomprehensible for anything more complex.

Down in the Picos mountains (Spain). Fabulous roads. Car attracted huge attention - in one case having to worm my way through a crowd to get to it, with the public wanting pictures, sit in it etc.
