Citroen Xantia Activa
Discussion
I made the mistake of reading this topic last week
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
and now i have my 3rd Activa making it's way to me......
Previously I have owned both a Series 1 and a Series 2 Activa, but much prefer the Series 1. A bit of digging on the internet and I found one located in Huddersfield. I wasn't prepared to make a trip up from Southampton to get it, so I went onto Shiply and found a courier prepared to deliver it. It's being collected today, for delivery tomorrow.
As mentioned, its a early Series 1 Activa on a P plate, with 99k on the clock. It seems in good condition from what I have been told and seen from pictures. It has been SORN for the last 3 years and also has the leather retro fitted, like I did in my original one.
These are the pics I have been sent

Plan is to have it delivered to Southways for a check over then chuck it in for an MOT. I plan to have it as my only car, so will be selling the C4 VTS. After a few months of running it I may decided to goo down the V6 route....

What is the reason for the V6 idea? Will it not be a bit heavy and mess up the balance of the car?
Plenty of v6 Activas left the Citroen factory, just none with RHD. Officially, there's not space. In practice, there's several been built. RHD did get the v6 non-Activa Xant, though only auto. Again, hasn't stopped at least one person building a v6 manual Xant, using the box from a 406 coupe.LHD-land got 2.1TD and HDi Activas, too.

Am I correct to think they run a silly number of spheres? I have the number 8 in mind.
10...
Bare minimum on a BX or whatever's five - one per wheel plus accumulator.
Add number six on anti-sink cars (or brake accumulator on CXs & SMs).
Add numbers seven and eight on Hydractive cars (XMs, top-spec Xants) for front and rear antisink.
Then add numbers nine and ten for front and rear anti-roll spheres on an Activa... plus the levelling rams in each anti-roll droplink.
I nearly bought one of those about 15 years ago as an upgrade to my BX GTi.
I found an empty roundabout on my test drive and the sales rep. went a bit pale while I was discovering how fast it could circle while staying absolutely flat.
Brilliant car but he wouldn't budge on the asking price.
Good luck with it, OP.

Looks good, looking forward to an update once you have it and it's been checked over.
What is the reason for the V6 idea? Will it not be a bit heavy and mess up the balance of the car? Is it not possible to tune the Turbo engine?
As mentioned above, there were V6 Activa's in France, just not over here. What is the reason for the V6 idea? Will it not be a bit heavy and mess up the balance of the car? Is it not possible to tune the Turbo engine?
ETA at Southways is 1pm. Interested to see how much of a shed I have purchased this time.....Kitchski
