Get some more pics up! Interested in what these are like to live with.
Does the 180bhp version have enough grunt, or does it feel a little flat? Are they more economical and cheaper to run than the 225?
The mk1 TT ticks a lot of boxes and I think would make a good all rounder. I'm just not entirely sure I like the looks.....

Could be all sorts of reasons. Looks lovely in black and I would leave the wheels alone personally. Easy to clean at least! I had a 225 cab at about 3 years old and although I'd agree with most of the general comments on PH about how it drives it was on the whole a fantastic ownership experience. Felt very special, utterly reliable for 3 years, very economical and lovely once remapped. It did feel however that it was crying out for a "meatier" engine like the 3.2 possibly. I always found the Haldex worked very well. So well in fact that it's only since subsequently owning FWD and RWD cars again that I really appreciate what it was doing for the car without me really realising Neil G60 said:

A few reasons :-I didnt want to spend weeks trawling around looking for the "right car". This one was handy and ticked enough boxes for me.
I work 1.2 miles from home. My TOTAL weekly mileage is usually less than 40 miles in total ( including
weekends ).Sometimes I question if I really need a car.
I plan on changing the car for a Boxster around October time this year so its really just a stop-gap.

Do NOT use a TT for this journey. It will kill the car. I didnt want to spend weeks trawling around looking for the "right car". This one was handy and ticked enough boxes for me.

The oil will never get up to temperature, neither the turbo or engine will like it. What's better is you won't even know because Audi didn't bother fitting a gauge you can see.
I'm pretty sure the reason my S3 ended up needing a new engine was because early on in it's life it was basically just used for short city commutes (before I owned it). If you must drive then I'd get something NA as soon as possible or just walk.

The 180's aren't 'slow' by any stretch but the 225 feels so much stronger. There is little to no difference in economy either, and insurance prices were the same when I had a TT. Beware though of some 180's dressed up as 225's with twin exhaust ports to give them the 225 look. If you're familiar with TT's you should be able to spot a fraud though, it will feel slower.Also, yes, I'd not advocate taking one on a very short commute. The engines need careful maintenance and the electrics are particularly shoddy too, but these are things you could learn to live with.
