03 Nissan Almera Lighter Socket Not Working

Hi all,
Having a problem with the lighter socket, the cigarette lighter itself can be pressed in and holds, but doesn't heat up and I have to pull it back out.
Thought it was maybe the fuse, but I've checked with a circuit tester pen and there is at least a small amount of power coming through.
I've got a few different phone chargers etc that I've tried and none of them seem to fit snugly or connect properly - is the cigarette lighter on the Almera a different size to standard?
Anyone experienced a similar problem?
