started off by putting 12000 miles on my moped which at 40mph freezing cold is alot
2009 Sachs Speedforce 50

passed in 2010 at 17 and drove this for a while
1999 Citreon Saxo 1.1i

sorry for the bad picture, rust killed it was auctioned for little over scrap price
then got this

2006 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 Twinport

was quite good to drive but being a vauxhall bits fell off and the electric throttle was very delayed
then while I had the corsa I got this but was never on the road due to insurance
1993 Toyota Mr2 2.0 twincam rev2 (I think)

started doing a few track days getting my dad to trailer it for me I did Croft and Elvington
[url|http://thumbsnap.com/vXhOyEzR[/url]

traded the corsa in for this

2007 Citreon Berlingo 1.6HDI

as I used to do jobs on the weekends.
Unfortunatly the big ends went on the mr2 which we repaired but then went again straight away again so kept for a while then sold for scrap price.
I Had the van for 6 months or so then sold to work and got a company van.
A few weeks without a road car then ended up buying this

1999 Mazda Mx5 mk2 1.8

Changed pads and discs but other than that standard
Did a lot of track days in this car
Croft, Elvington, Cadwell and alot at Blyton
i got bored of driving the mx5 on the road as it seemed much better on track than road, the tax was running out and I wanted a 4x4 so got this and sorned the mx5 and trailered it to track days
1999 Kia Sportage 2l petrol

then having not bought a vehicle for a while I bid on this as it seemed cheap and was local
2002 Citreon Berlingo 2.0HDI

plan was to sell on but I still have it, im going to give it to the girlfriend when she passes as insurance is much cheaper than a car.
Got bored of the mx5 and didn't fancy spending loads on performance mods, so bought this
Its a 1987 mr2 mk1 supercharger imported tin top seems fairly standard, other than seems lower and louder than standard
and discs and pads have been upgraded the car is in good condition to say its around 27 years old, the car sometimes shows its age and is far from perfect but while not being much faster than the mx5 is so much more exiting to drive with no power steering and the delivery from that supercharger is awesome smile looking forward to doing some track days
so currently have a mr2, mx5, van, 4x4 a trailer and a works van, the mx5 is for sale after many warnings from my mother to get rid of some of these bloody cars

hope i didn't bore you too much

Interesting little car history there, cheers thumbup

I love these Mk.1 MR2's. A mate had one about 10 years ago, and let me go off in it for a blat. I thought it was absolutely marvellous. I especially loved the centre console that you could sort of rest your whole arm along, just flicking your wrist to change gear.

I'd imagine your supercharged one would be amazing. Is that a factory fitment or an aftermarket conversion?

Interestingly there's also a red one at the bottom of my estate. I can remember it turning up outside the house brand new in 1987, and it is still there now on the driveway, being used every day. There's no apparent rust on it either, the guy must really look after it.

Iv not had the car very long but I love it, wasn't sure about it with it being an old import and not that fast compared with other stuff i was looking at, also not very good value for money as there not very common these days but im very happy with it. I think Toyota did make a supercharged version but not sure if mines an original supercharged car or a conversion. The car is pretty much clear of rust underneath but the arches are a different story iv painted them and keeping an eye on them but the arches are going to need replacing at some point.

Toyota did a supercharged one that was JDM only, engine code 4AGZE instead of the normally aspirated 4AGE.

I had an NA AW11 a few years back, completely restored and repainted it, now owned by my grandfather!

Lovely collection OP, but the MR2 tops them all smile

Excellent, and all respect and kudos to you for buying such an interesting thing, despite there being, as you say, probably some more sensible choices.

It's people like you that are brave enough to keep such interesting cars going, and hats off to you for doing so!

I hope she gives you sterling service and you continue to enjoy owning her. Please keep the thread updated, ok?! biggrin

Little update
I bought this (1999 1.4 fiesta ghia) to have as a normal car and for my girlfriend to learn in and then her to have
she has now passed and is happily driving round in her fezzy, very cheap motoring and not bad to drive, first car iv had with working air con!

The mr2 SC has never really ran right so its booked in for v6 conversion so being without a fun car for sometime and short on money i bought this as something to play with and chuck around while not costing me much. May even do a trackday in it if im feeling brave enough!

it is suprisingly fun to drive smile, though not fast!

Jesus christ. Ants in your pants or what? Haha
That MR2 looks lovely!
The S charged ones are very rare. Are you sure it wouldnt be better to get the engine rebuilt?

long awaited update

MX5- sold for a profit sort of, regret selling it as it was such a great car in so many ways

Berlingo - Sold for a profit sort of

Kia Sportage - Engine Failure and sold for a little above scrap price

Trailer - Sold for a proffit

The Fiesta is running fine, replaced the clutch slave cylinder, fuel tank and got the cambelt done aswell as some tyres

spent about £350 on it so far

The cinqucento has had some upgrades-

Front upper and lower strut braces
poly bushes all round
Spax ajustable suspension all round

Also removed alot of the interior removed sunroof and replaced with perspex

did a track day!

The car performed faultlessly, drove there lots of laps and home, used about £20 of V power all day
The car needed the rear wheel bearings replacing afterwards but these were cheap and easy to replace

I was quite worried about it being rubbish on track, but it was great fun. Had to keep letting people past but I certainly enjoyed getting the most out of the car. It gave my girlfriend chance to do her first bit of track driving too!

The cinq is on pause at the minute until I have spare time and money to continue enjoying it.

The MR2

after a lot of waiting the car is back from having the engine work done
so far seems a good job

This is the engine bay now with its rebuilt lexus 3 litre v6 from the rx300

smokin

The car drives great I have only had a few drives in it since the conversion but its awesome smile

The car has a mongoose exhaust, LSD and higher ratio fifth gear
It sounds alot quieter than before, you can barely hear it at warm tick over
then you press the throttle and your ears are filled with the deep roar of that engine, you are pressed back into those lovely retro cloth seats and make more than enough progress for the public roads. Put some power on early out of a corner, loads of torque and the car just grips.

There is still stuff to sort out but I can feel its going to be great on track

Plan to do-
Celica front brake conversion
wheel bearings all round
sort some of the rust
17" white Enkei wheels
undecided which tyres and what sizes at the moment
Tracking and alignment

This unfortunately is also making very little progress at the moment due to low funds (iv also bought my first house)

I will get some more pictures uploaded

Thanks Chris spin

Had a 1.6 TBar MK1 MR2 for my first car. Drove it into a tree. Might have to get another as I Loved it!
