Here is a pic of my other mantas, I restored and modified the 400r 10 years ago, plan to do a 16v conversion next now the v8 is finished. The standard car is 2 owner from new, never been modified or welded, original 31000 miles on the clock. No more major projects, getting to old, unless a 2 door ascona turns up!!

The 400 is stunning. Always remembered seeing one of these in Bournmouth when I was attending college on day release from work.... Rear tyres looked huge then.

Thank you ! I have had a lot of fun with the 400r, always seems to draw attention and pictures. The wheels were 10 inches wide on the real 400 if I remember correctly. Watched them in Donegal many, many years ago, always wanted a manta but could never afford one then.......been making up for that a while now....LOL.

Always loved the look of these Manta coupes with the 400 being the daddy when it comes to these, makes me think of Jimmy McRae in the AC Delco 400' and Russell Brooke's in the yellow Heat for Hire car, lifting a front wheel round the Manx or Circuit of Ireland Rally's.

I really like these, however I could never own one - as here in NL they are associated with one thing and one thing only:

New Kids Turbo frown

The Manta was 'fout' waaaaay before New Kids ever came around wink

Also in Germany:

(a must-see btw.!)

However, they were finally on their way to becoming a classic as all the s has moved on but New Kids kinda stopped that though. biggrin

If you still want to see an original stereotypical Manta driver, go to the Ruhrgebiet. Mullet, Jeans jacket, Foxtail on their rear-view mirror, slats on the rear window, giant Kenwood sticker -> they still exist.

Awesome 400rep and original looking one, you lucky boy.

Many years ago one of my teachers at a arts school had a white Manta "exclusive" with Recaro interior ,yellow/grey striping on the outside and extra spot lamps on the front on it. I wasn't really that clued up on it at the time but looking back it was far more of a special car than I gave it credit for!

Love them. I wanted one so badly as a kid. White GTE saloon rather than the hatch, with a twin headlight conversion. The Integra Type R of the day IMO.

Off I go to the classifieds...

Every time I drive through Noord-Brabant I keep my eyes open for one in the wild, yet to realise the dream though!
I *think* the New Kids Manta lives in Maastricht. It's been spotted there by acquaintances of mine a few times.

Thank you all for the warm comments! Good luck with the restoration, glad to hear another manta being saved. Home made dash, took a while, sd1 v8 speedo and rev counter working as they should.

Love these.
I've had a RHD Manta GSi, several 2.0 GTEs, a GTE fitted with the Carlton 2.2 engine, a 16v and also a three litre one!

Great, fun cars!

I see one identical to that every day parked up near Tower Bridge. Looks great.
