Smart Roadster Coupe Brabus

Just couldn't resist this! Have been pondering various things (Scimitar, Clio Williams, TVR Wedge), but this came up locally and having owned a standard Roadster in the past and enjoyed it greatly I had to have it.







Needs 3 wheels refurbed and some minor paint touch-ups, but otherwise seems 100 %.

Always liked the look of these...but also thought they were crying out for a bike engine and manual box conversion! Has it been done?

Saw one recently and I think these have finally come of age for me, if I wasn't considering replacing the MX5 with something more practical then I'd be seriously looking at one of these.

Cheers fellas! Yeah the drivetrain is not perfect, but i drove to pick it up in my BMW and driving the Smart on the same road on the test drive was a brilliant example of fun > speed. With speed cops popping up all the time the Smart is a great way to enjoy driving without always worrying about your speed. Looking forward to getting it home to tidy up and enjoy in the good weather.

Me too.

Having had Caterhams (plural) and a TVR Cerbera, I have become accustomed to manic speed. The Caterhams were perfectly-small for blasting around the place, while I have grown to prefer the Cerbera's roof. A bike engine in one of Smart coupe seems a great idea.

People are also doing Toyota MR2 N/A conversions in these with full manual box. Drives very well as opposed to a bike engined that need the revs. Also one in Portugal I think with a 1.8T in it!

Watch them alloys though, they buckle easy on potholes!

Very nice! Those Brabus alloys are a pain to keep mint, since they're made of cheese!

Yeah I hear the wheels are a pain. I'm going to get them refurbed (mild bit of corrosion/kerbing on all) and then I'd be tempted to pick up a set of the 3-spoke Roadster wheels and run it on those. Roads aren't great where I'll be driving.
