'86 Porsche 928 S2

Ok quick update on recent purchase, well so far, and despite all the horror stories attached to 928s, it hasn't attempted to rape my wallet yet (fuel doesn't count in my book)
The original plan was to sell my E39 540 and buy an estate or sell the S Class as well and get an L322 Rangie, but I've always had a hankering for a 928 (growing up in the 70s/80s played a big part in this) this one came up for sale locally and was in my favourite colour combo of red with black interior, I thought it would be churlish to not have a look and test drive.
Its has the rear muffler delete, so the first time I heard it start up had me grinning from ear to ear, and after a lengthy test drive everything felt good, so a deal was struck and I took it home.
First thoughts, how modern the car feels to drive and how fresh the design still looks despite this particular car being the best part of 28 years old. Sure there are some minus points, mainly the road noise, but then most cars seem noisy compared to the comforts of a double glazed S Class, I'm thinking of adding some modern soundproofing to the car at some stage. The AC doesn't work, and to be honest its something I can live without, but I am in the process of getting a diagnosis and estimate for repair.
First job booked is to have 4 new tyres on, I'd love any opinions on what other 928 owner favour as their choice of rubber, then the seats will be re-conollised, while they aren't in bad condition, they do need doing,
So far in 7 days I've done 700 miles and enjoyed every single one, I don't intent to keep it as garage queen, in fact, unless I need to carry lots of gear/passengers it will be the car I grab the keys for first.
Another downside (sort of) was on the condition of my purchasing a toy, was the wife wanted a new toy as well, and as she never forgave me for selling the MX5, it needed to be another soft top, but with 4 seats, so a nice dark blue 9-3 SE Turbo (185bhp) found its way on to the drive as well last week...
Hopefully when the weather improves I'll get a load more pics of the 928 up.

Well I've had the car for nearly 3 months, and have covered around 2000 miles in that time, and it still hasn't bankrupted me.
All costs so far have been mainly cosmetic improvements, which include front seats recoloured, new stereo head unit, window rubbers and new/extra soundproofing throughout. Also had the gearbox fluid and filter changed for piece of mind.
Jobs left to do, upgrade the speakers, repair air con (still weighing up cost/benefits) and 4 new tyres all round.
Off to the west country for a weekend away in it this weekend coming, so fingers crossed it will perform faultlessly!
So a rather uneventful update, despite all the stories of how ruinous these cars are supposed to be.
