First proper sports car - MGF SE

Picked up my new-to-me MGF this afternoon, it's one of 500 Wedgewood special editions sold in the UK. I'd looked at several cheaper ones, but all had "issues", to put it politely... So I coughed up a little more, and got the best I could find. Only faults are one small (repaired) hole in the hood, and a couple of small spots of corrosion round the air intakes. Going to give it a full service, and a good clean. New boots on the front, 50% tread left on the rears, MOT till Sept, and taxed for another 2 1/2 months as well. Put my Alfa up for sale last night, and got it sold 15 minutes before I went to pick this up!

Design has aged very well imo, and those wheels are great. I do rather like MGFs and TFs

Looks like its loaded with all the goodies, you can drop the top and put it up again without leaving the drivers seat

Enjoy, it looks like a good example. We have had a few of these over the years & if you have a good example to begin with & keep up with maintenance these really are rewarding sports cars to own. They seem to have reached the bottom of the depreciation curve now & are surely due to start appreciating now as they become accepted within the classic car scene.

Only major thing I'd like to do before winter is get a heated glass rear screen - or a hardtop!

Got a DAB aerial fitted today, and my own head unit installed, gave the interior a damn good clean as well. Going to mod my old hatchback bike rack to fit as well.

It's been nearly a week, and for a car that really didn't need any work, I seem to have been rather busy. Full service - oil, filters and plugs - thank you MG for putting the fuel filter somewhere easily accessible! Some replacement trim clips for the drivers door card cured a rattle, and new number plates and exhaust tips freshen up the look, especially round the back end. Got the plasma dial kit in the post today, so fitting that along with adjusting the sensor for the electric power steering, as I have the "turning left" problem.

That looks ok, better than I expected.

What's special about it being a Wedgewood? Complimentary china picnic set in the boot, or is it the OAP shade of blue (which I like, incidentally)?

Only 500 sold in UK (750 total made). Wedgewood Blue paint unique on Mk1 (came as a standard colour on MGTF), 16" alloys (over 15" standard), & black cow bum-cradles.

Brilliant little cars. Do not skimp on tyres though, they bite big time. Wife span our Trophy and we both span the VVC along with our friendly neighbourhood mechanic.
Far quicker than most folk realise, and good on fuel too. At high speed they go very light at the font. On slippery roads the back goes easily.
Lovely colour.
If it hasn't already, get an ally throttle body, Vauxhall Cav and Astra 2.0 fit as MG version is a lot even on eBAY.

Driven my dads mgf a few times ( I have an mx5 ) and I must admit they really are nice little motors. Have you had the cooling pipes replaced underneath?
