Car Update.....2010 BMW X6 35d

Good afternoon all....It's been a while since I've posted in a section other than the Food & Drink forum 
A few things have changed on the car front so here goes!
The last time I posted I had just collected my 2007 Audi Q7 3.0 after p/xing my BMW E60 (Around Feb 2011)
Unfortunately, an ill fated trip to IKEA one Friday afternoon late in Jan 2012 meant this was the last time I saw it
I rear ended a Transit van at around 50mph on the M1 North at Jct 24. The traffic was slowing quickly to avoid another incident in front of us and I missed it for whatever reason. I was in the 4th lane and attempted to ditch it in the grass by the hard shoulder but clipped the transit in the 2nd lane.
The car was written off and my insurance broker recommended I surrender my licence to the DVLA as I had a medical condition. My condition was not on the DVLA list to declare and I'd never been advised to declare it by my GP or consultants (although looking back this was quiet a naive mistake on my part) I was sent for a driving assessment in Derby and they were happy to let me continue driving as long as I used hand controls and drove an automatic.
I was given my licence back in April 2012 and headed off to the dealerships in hunt of a Range Rover Sport. I found a 2006 HSE in Bury which was the exact spec I was after.
It had 56k on the clock and a FLRSH. A couple of days in to ownership, I realised it was quiet slow and on acceleration it was throwing black smoke out the exhaust. After numerous trips to LR they told me it had a "tennis ball" sized hole in the intercooler. This was replaced under warranty.
I did a total of 10k miles in 22 months of ownership including a road trip to Switzerland and numerous 400 mile round trips between Leicester & Newcastle. The car never missed a beat and it was a real pleasure to drive. Even with a slightly under powered engine it was still adequate to waft along happily and comfortably.
So now, my latest acquisition. My dad has always been a big Range Rover fan and would borrow my Sport at any given opportunity (we work together so this was almost a daily occurrence
) When his Saab 93 finally gave up the ghost and failed it's MOT in Feb, he asked if he could buy my Sport from me. I agreed as it gave me a chance to get a new car.
The choice was either an X6 or a Q7 but with an all new Q7 on it's way pretty soon, and the fact I'm the only person in the car, I was a bit dubious about spending so much money on another big 7 seater.
I found an X6 in the 'footballer spec' I was after at Colne BMW. After some to-ing and fro-ing over the phone and a trip down to check the car over we struck up a deal where they would take Dads Saab in PX.
It's a 2010 35d with 35k on the clock. It's been colour coded by BMW and has the 21" Ferric Grey alloy wheels. Media Pack, Dynamic Pack & Sunroof finish off the spec to pretty much everything I wanted. It also had a 5yr service plan from new, so my next service is sorted.
Due to using hand controls, I was unable to test drive it. It was delivered a week later and a week after that, I had the hand controls transferred from my Range Rover to the X6. My first impressions were it was QUICK. Almost too quick for the hand controls to handle. The turbos are always spinning up and the car just feels like it wants to go! The second thing I noted was the steering was extremely heavy which made it a bit uncomfortable with the city driving I do.
Other than that, it was lovely. The gadgets and BT integration are great.
Over the last 8 weeks I've grown quiet fond of it and am enjoying it. I've got a few plans for it, namely removing the roof rails and replacing the sills with the foot plate with the standard sills. I've already had the 2014 Sat Nav maps updated and have ordered some LED lights to swap out the yellow angels for some white ones.
Current plan of action is to replace it in late 2015 or early 2016 with the new RR Sport or the New Q7 (dependent on it's release!)

X6 looks all the better for being colour coded, roof rails being removed should help too
Yep, it's very hit or miss with most people. Usually miss!
The wheels are the same, I'm quiet fond of them (although not the colour). Allegedly they were a 4k option when new so when the run flats have died a death, I will be switching them over for something more easing to the eye and probably a 22' coupled with a 1.5' drop. Then sell these 21's on eBay to fund the new wheels and tyres.
Garage is indeed the collection bay at Colne BMW.....no luxury of a garage here, it lives in the driveway!

Cheers. It's a bit marmite but it has won over a few people who have seen it. Either that or they are just being kind.
