Finally out of the garage after an 8 month restoration and thoroughly washed!

So good to see it out again, all the love re-gained and all that...

Off to get the wheels re-aligned on Thursday then its the open road!

I sold my Escort Cossy and bought one (380bhp) then bought a MK2 at the start of January - Awesome machines.

Thanks mate. And yes, completely standard/unmolested with full ford history and only on 47k miles. I am going to keep it that way too as it will be worth more in the future. Also such great cars out of the box that modification is unnecessary anyway imo

Just done the rebuild with new genuine parts too to keep with the theme

Cheers - The Escort Cosworth was a Big Turbo and was stupid fast- I bought it in a rush lol Spec was 500bhp with a garret GT35R on it so it was faaar to crazy to drive everyday which I bought it for.

MK1 vs MK2 - Love the MK2 - The MK1 was proper "cool" if that makes sense, think its a far more "old school" orientated car to the MK2 even tho its a new era car.

MK1 had a lot of torque steer compared to the MK2. MK1 power hit you in the back where as the MK2 is more gentle.

Nothing will ever beat a Cossy tho, when I get another one it will be standard. My finances cousin has one in red with 24k on it, love it.

Its funny you say that about the Mk1. I see it in exactly the same light, feels like a classic already even though it is relatively modern. Mine is completely standard so never felt the 'kick' of a modded one (have been told if I ever did I would mod mine the next day....). Also enjoy a bit of torque steer, keeps things interesting....

And I agree, cossie is a true legend

The torque steer I had was to the point where it was dangerous and put me off the car a bit.

I know what you mean its definitely a modern classic.

Keep it standard and it will be worth a lot more. My one had just been resprayed when I bought it so it was lovely and clean. Kept popping hoses off tho which was a pain but got that sorted then moved on.

I'm frothing at the mouth, what are these like finacially if you run them daily? Always fancied one as they look to me, perfect. I look at them standard and there's not one thing i would change. Perfect!

Awesome choice of car mine has 105k now & have owned for 8 years & still love it
Modified they are epic I always felt mine was lacking when stock tbh

No problem as a daily I did 25k in one year in mine with no issues

I can only say good things about these cars, excellent all rounder, already feel like a classic and the amount of attention they get is something else! Took it to get the wheels aligned today and everyone at the garage I took it to couldnt get enough of it!

The only downer is fuel consumption, average 20-25mpg and they can only take v-power due to lack of knock sensor in the engine.

Worth it though!!

Took it to get the wheels re-aligned today. First drive of the year, thoroughly enjoyed it! Forgot just how much attention these cars get!

The guys at the garage were all over it too, and one of them said they get 14 plates in that arn't as good as mine underneath, makes all the work seem worthwhile

I had a 280bhp one for a short period, the torque steer was genuinely terrifying, it used to make overtakes very tricky and you'd always want two hands on the wheel

Geometry was wrong I have a fair bit over 300 & no issues at all
