Lusted after a 'hot' Golf for some time - never quite got round to signing on the dotted line and dabbled in other motorised things. Yes, I know it's not a Ferrari or Porsche, but to me it is an extremely competent, good looking, all-rounder and my 'lust' standards are probably lower than yours smile

Finally took delivery of a 2014 Mk7 Golf GTD on the 10th June - have just run it in and really enjoying it.

Yeah looks good, seen quite a few of these on the road now. If I was doing more miles I'd consider swapping my GTI for one.

Thanks all - the wheels are the standard 18" Nogaro and look good in the flesh IMHO.
The 19" Santiago were another £985 and I didn't like them that much !

Since taking delivery on June 10th I've done 1015 miles (about 2/3rds of that is above 50mph) and the computer is showing 52.2mpg overall. Now it's run in I expect that to go down a bit as I've had it in sport mode for the last 2 days smile

Man proposes to jack in sweet V6 for a 4-pot smoker and says so without any obviousness sadness.

A sad day.

p.s. I think the GTD is quite an attractive proposition. It looks good on black, too, OP.

Lovely car. If I ever get sucked back into a work car scheme, this would have to be top of my list: most likeable car without silly BIK.

But very careful in choosing to drop a 3.2 V6 for a TDI though; I've done similar swaps before and been very disappointed (no matter how competent the diesel). If buying privately, you must look very closely at all costs including depreciation before declaring anything like this is cheaper to run than an R32!

It's actually Carbon Grey - but does look black in some lights (or where you butcher the photos in Lightroom smile )

Here's another one ....

Looking good.

I think the pipes to one side looks better than the GTI in my opinion.

Lovely colour too!

Nice colour. Proper box. How you finding the ACC?

Hated the seats when I first saw them but they've grown on me. The rest of the interior is fantastic!
I've got a red one.

I think in all likelihood i'm going to run a shed for a year or so then go for a C63/commuter two car combo. What car thread for the shed coming to you in about 6 months!
Good man. I am sorely tempted by the C63 for one reason that is composed of a letter and a number!

Yay - Dog dick red was my first choice, but the carbon grey was already available and I couldn't wait smile

I think the seats are suitably retro and add a bit of interest to the cabin - being the same pattern as the original GTIs. I also like the modern spin on the original golf ball gear knob.

The attention to detail in and around the car is amazing - maybe this is a German car thing and not just the golf but I've always had other makes.

I absolutely love the ACC - what a fantastic evolution of the bog standard cruise control that I've had in the last few cars. Although the front assist part (which also uses the radar) has caught me out a couple of times and slammed the brakes on for me right in the wrong place!

Awesome car IMHO

I've just accepted a new job and the GTD is my favoured option from the company car list. Will watch the thread with interest. Fantastic looking thing and surely the perfect, frugal daily.

2600 in and just seeing a rise in mpg.

Indicated 60.8 on long motorway run.

Interesting to know.

If I'm honest, my last 2 cars were returning 30mpg average so anything over that is a bonus - currently showing 50.2 smile
