Hi guys.
I know the MX-5 is fabled around here, so how about a version on steroids?
I've made all the "mistakes" that people say not to do when buying a car. Bought the first one I've seen, in the rain, without a test drive (to be fair we did go out in it, just I didn't drive).
It's a 1992 RX-7 FD3S, one of only a hundred or so sold as proper UK cars, not imported. The mileage is quite high, but the service history is astonishing (every oil change at a most of 3000 miles) and I spent ages going over the car before I made an offer. Not perfect, tiny few marks here and there but mechanically seems very strong.
This is my present to myself after finishing uni with a good degree and going straight into a decent job. (As I said in my what car thread), I'm young, have a bit of spare money and I'm going to enjoy myself while I still can!
Pick it up on saturday when hopefully get a few more pictures up, but here are a few for now from the advert:

I wanted something rare and a bit leftfield. I've used the word quite a lot but I think iconic works well - especially to someone of my age (growing up with the original GranTourismo on playstation). It's got Koni dampers and a Racing Beat exhaust, neither of which are intrusive at all. The dampers are set to be quite compliant and the exhaust is actually nice and quite. It was explained to me that the parts where more high quality replacements than upgrades. They needed doing so it seems worth it to get quality parts. It'll be staying as is, the only thing I may look at is a new seat and possibly a new wheel - purely as I'm well over 6 foot and it's not a big car! Possibly some stuff to ensure it's health like temp sensors and the like, but I don't want any garish gauges or anything so I need to have a think about that.

Looks immaculate OP, congrats on finishing Uni I'm too looking forward to buying myself something special when I finish Uni in a couple of years or so (results and funds dependant of course). With regards to you wanting to add sensors but not loads of gauges I think there a few devices out there now that allow all that information to be accessed by a small and neat screen so this could be a clutter free option for you - I'm sure I came across one recently but cant remember where exactly

Yes - I think we are thinking of the same thing. I can't recall what it was either though! I'll have to do some research. Good luck in Uni - I did engineering and it was incredibly hard work but so worth it. Promising myself a car like this was the thing that kept me going. That and beer anyway!JackP1 said:

Thanks. It was a lot of money (for me anyway) but I'm telling myself it shouldn't lose too much if kept in good order.
