I picked this up yesterday, it was owned by a friend of a friend

I had one back in 2007 and I never really enjoyed it fully. when I told my friends I had bought this, most were in disbelief as I constantly slated my old one.

However 7 years on I appreciate the car for what it is, and so far I am loving it, Much nicer to drive daily than my E46 M3 this replaces.

I had intended to sell the E46 and run the VR6 In the background, but this was too tempting. its one of 44 red R32s when they were new, was silly cheap and in my favourite R32 colour. Not to mention the good lady took one look at the VR6 and tagged it a boy racers car.

It needs some TLC, a new exhaust, and a the brakes repainted in the correct blue.

Spec wise it has full leather, cruise control and a delta 6 headunit

Here are the only pictures I currently have

Thanks for looking

Nice car and pretty interesting too.

Has the alternator been changed? It's in a devil of a position is is very expensive to do. I had a lot ok MK4s but won't have a other. They're at that stage now when too many things start to break down and rarely are they cheap. Great cars, especially this one, when they're between surgery though and the V6 is a very hardy lump.

Aren't red (is it tornado red or flash red?) R32's incredibly rare? Sure it was something daft like less than 20 in the UK, which I find odd as they look amazing in that colour. Looks a nice buy, I've driven one and had a Mk3 VR6, the R32 is definitely an acquired taste, more of a grown up hot hatch.

The tornado red R32s are rare, 44 were registered in the uk, unsure how many are left.

Re the alternator I'm not too sure if it's been done, my mates a vag master tech so he will be giving it a going over in the next few weeks

Never been that bothered about these but in red it looks great. A nice change to the blue or black you typically see these in.

I must admit, I do really really like them in red, it's my favourite colour to have most cars in.

My first R32 was a blue 5 door.

Seeing as the exhaust is toast, I made my first purchase for it yesterday, milltek non resonated car back. I had one on my first R32, it may be a bit loud bit the resonated centres are easily obtainable

RED 3 DOOR - what a find!

Seriously cool, I've only spotted 5 door ones. Is it a keeper then?

I know how rare the red ones are, to find it for sale less than a mile from my house, almost unbelievable.

Yeah I think this will be a keeper, I've always fallen back to VW Golfs, despite knowing there are better alternatives out there.

I just like Golfs, moreso with VR6 (and it's derivatives) under the bonnet

Certainly a good looking car, nice to see in a world of grey/black/silver dieselness. thumbup
How does it differ from the VR6, mechanically , layout and the drive, I'm interested in the evolution of it.

stunning in red mate.. it sure is a very very rare colour in a mk4.

i have a tornado red mk5 r32..not as rare regarding numbers in mk4 guise, but still the rarest colour next to Candy White.

Get a vid clip up of the milltek fitted, id love one on mine but the drone would drive me crackers...ive just done the flapper mod for now and love it!

Lovely. Big fan of red R32's. I had a tornado red Bora. Great colour, just look out for lacquer peel.

Not much in the way of updates, it's been behaving itself, did a trip to Glasgow a few weeks ago with the OH to see the Killers (which was awesome) and it returned just shy of 30mpg on that trip, it's currently sitting at an average of 24.4 which is fine.

I had a small incident a few weeks back, namely got airborne on a back road, and cracked the sump, new sump and a service at the same time, carried out in the driveway. Used genuine parts, including the plugs, just a haldex service to carry out.

Fitted a non resonated milltek to replace the rotten original system, far far too intrusive and boy racer for my liking (I'm getting old as I loved the non res on my last R32 in 2007) so this was replaced by a resonated centre section last weekend, MUCH better IMO

Whilst carrying out the service I fitted the OEM airbox, to rid it if that awful intake, suffice to say I'm currently happy with the car.

I had a moment tonight with the power washer, the laquer on the NS wing is peeling badly, so I power washed it off and polished the wing, temporary solution, but it's far more pleasing on the eye

Lovely I had one exactly the same, yc53tcv red 3 door.

Mine had all the usual faults, cooling fans gave up, creaky suspension, but sounded lovely.

I have to admit I hated the seats though!, look great but are crap.

So far it's behaving itself, the cooling fans on my first R32 did give up after only 4 years.

The seats I think are fine, but seats are a very personal thing
