MG ZT-T CDTi Auto

As you know, I'm a bit of an MG Rover nut (comes with the job!), and have now owned pretty much every modern-day MG and Rover (aside from the 200 series, as I'm 6 and a half feet tall).
I've always had a real soft spot for the ZT-T, and before I bought this car owned the same car in manual guise. I was perfectly happy with it - I've always wanted a CDTi Auto, however to find the ZT-T with the automatic gearbox and BMW diesel engine is quite unusual (and they hold their value well, so most tend to be £2.5k+ when they do come up for sale). As such, I'd had the manual for a while and planned to keep it for a long time.
We all know it never works out like that, though....
Browsing eBay one day, I happened across this car. Lots of history, plenty of MOT and Tax, and more importantly priced at just £1,500.
A quick call later and a trip to The Train Line meant that 12 hours later, I was on my way to Coventry to pick her up:
Some spec:
- MG ZT-T CDTi Sports Auto in Le Mans Green
- 127,000 on the clock when collected, now on the way to 131,000 just a month later..!
- Cruise control, parking sensors, auto wipers, full on board computer and the lovely Alcantara seats
Mechanical condition was good, however it could have been a holed wreck and I'd have brought it back home with me if I'm honest.
The only issue I've had so far is a failed gearbox solenoid - the changes were always quite harsh, however this is usually down to poor condition ATF. One day they went from bad to appaling, and a quick multi-meter test showed that the 2/4 duty solenoid (anyone working with a JF506E transmission will tell you how often these fail) was open-circuit. £60 later, and all fixed.
I'll keep this thread up to date with work done, problems encountered etc. These are massively under-rated cars, and I'm over the moon.

I did indeed have a Trophy Blue Tourer, and still do for now - I've always wanted a nice ZT-T Auto, and bought the Trophy Blue after hunting for months and finding nothing up to standard (it's a manual, sadly).
It's a shame, as the Trophy Blue Tourer is perfect apart from not being an automatic. That said, the subject of this thread has proven to be capable of dealing with my needs - it's done countless parcel runs, tip runs and long personal trips (3,000 miles so far in just over a month, a lot of that in town) and it's been great.
Fingers crossed for many more miles! I have noticed underneath isn't as clean as I'd like (surface corrosion), so I'll be sorting that soon before it gets worse.
Highly recommended, as is the 75. Brilliant cars.
