Excellent buy, I had a 420 SE. One of the few cars I really regret parting with. They are surprisingly quick too for their size. Good luck.

Have you checked for parcel shelf rust? That seems to be a common rust area on these.

I've only looked up the last number so far (I read newspapers from the back page!) and 640 comes up as "640 15-hole light alloy rims".

ETA: Just noticed the hole in the centre console. I think your missing the wing mirror adjuster thingy. Iirc they are fairly standard across the MB ranges of the era, so you should be able to pick one up for a couple of pints.

Well done, a car from back when things were built properly. My Dad had a few of these back in the Eighties (from when they were only a couple of years old). Your's looks to be nicer than any of them. An absolute bargain. Are you going to source some original alloys or stick with proper shedding and spend as little as possible?
