Very nice. More information would be nice. How long have you owned it?

btw:- Here's a picture of my new 3.0S the week I picked it up in 1978.

This is my 1981 essex v6 powered mk3 3.0s

I have owned it since 2006, when I bought her she had a massive overheating problem due to the rover v8 radiator,
Which was there due to a previous 5l Chevy small block conversion.

That coupled with a dodgy oil pump lead to a con rod through the sump and substantial damage to the cylinder =[

I managed to pick up a donor engine cheap and tried running that however due to it being sat
For a year or so the oil pump had gone in this one too and the big end shells were knackered.

Sooooo out came the engine again, and this time we did a proper job!!

Rebuilt the bottom end and got the redone to stage 2 with hardened valve seats.
And a burton fast road cam, the points and condenser have been sacked off and she now has a accuspark electric plate in the dizzy.

She's got a set of sportex manifolds and the stainless straight through should be on this week....maybe
I also put the radiator housing back in and got an old 3l radiator re cored and finned with a 16 inch kenlowe fan to keep her cool.

When I bought the car it was brooklands green with a Kat kit and a whale tale on it
Which was pretty disgusting to be honest so off that came and I then set about getting every hole that they drilled to put the kit on welded up along with some slight rust on the rear arch. At this point I decided to lose the bumpers all together and get the holes welded up and smoothed in properly, adding a few subtle lines and elegant modifications.

The front was more a matter of necessity really as the valance had some damage that couldn't be repaired so we cut it out and modified the front valance to hopefully pull some air through and keep her cool (once bitten twice paranoid as hell)

She's a very early mk3 so has some nice bits from the mk2 like the one piece door handles which I love so managed to pick up a mk2 grille for £5 a few years ago and love it =]

She's also got AP racing four pots on grooved discs on the front but still has the drums on the back at the moment
But this is something that's on the list .

She's also got axle locators on the back and single leafs off of a 2.8

I think that's everything but I'm sure there's loads more lol

I have loads of build pics that I'll Ryan and post in the next couple of days =]

£11 for number plates in 1978!! That's £60 in today's money.

What condition are the Pirreli P7's in? I ask as i bought a set before they stopped making them and they cracked up and started perishing before i could fit them to the car.

Using your reckoning, I reckon a tank of fuel for 9.88 is about 53 quid in today's money - maybe fuel isn't as extortionate as we think....

Mine are in great condition for the age of them, no cracking or splitting which is good considering they cam with the car in 2006 lol

Still miss my old Amber 3.0S

My first 3.0S, running it as a daily through two scottish winters nearly killed it frown

SIGNAL AMBER tongue out, cheers anyway, was standard with non Recaro interior etc, had quite a few Capri's, progressed through 1600L, 2.0S, 3.0Ghia, then a couple of 3.0S's.

Will probebly get another someday, prices of good original 3.0S's have risen though.
