Golf Mk5 R32 in Shadow Blue

Thought I would post up some bits about my Mk5 R32, even though I purchased it back in November 2013!
I managed to find the perfect spec I was after, and luckily the car was pretty local to me! Finished in Shadow Blue, 3dr, DSG, leather, and as a bonus is a 55 plate so in the lower tax bracket. I purchased it with 60k on the clock for £7.5k which I thought was a cracking price.
As discussed many times, the noise these cars make is epic! So the first 'mod' was to do the flapper in the exhaust. I was then hankering after a different set of wheels to make the car stand out, as the standard ones were all in need of a full refurbishment. I got extremely lucky and a set of Speedline Turini's came up for sale through the briskoda forum, fitted with nearly new tyres. Naturally I snapped those up immediately and in my eyes they really set the car off.
I use the car everyday at present, and she is now sitting on 73k. I live right next to the motorway so my commute to work is rather boring, but it does mean that I am averaging 28mpg overall, and usually get 32mpg on the way to work, the highest figure I have seen was 34, and the most miles to a tank was 380, pretty impressive I feel!
It been reliable up until a misfire on the way to work one morning left me calling for the RAC. They were very helpful and managed to get me a replacement coilpack, and didn't even charge me. The car was then booked into Volkswagen in Cheltenham who were very helpful, and carried out the coilpack recall as this car never received it. 5 new coils later - completely free of charge, I was a happy customer!
Unfortunately a rather nasty bill came my way last week, which was my first sour taste of R32 ownership. It went into the garage for a DSG oil change, and came out needing a new front wishbone bush, secondary air pump filter, new o/s/r brake caliper, and rather suspiciously 4 new lambda sensors.
Anyway enough of the chat for now, here are some pictures. I will keep this thread updated!
The car when I first purchased it back in all that awful weather we had last winter, had to put it in the hangar at work to get a picture!

I like that, good colour, a refreshing change from DBP. How was it on the track as I've seen a few R32s going around Combe at a decent pace. I find my vr6 gearing a tad long for combe
Speedlines are a smart choice, I still regret selling a set of Turinis I got from my local scrappy for £100!!

Cheers, I specifically wanted one in Shadow Blue, it looks lovely when the sun catches it, and contrasts well with the silver dash trim.
It wasn't too bad on track, it had crappy front tyres on at the time though so tended to understeer too much for my liking, but now the speedlines are on with premium rubber, it feels more neutral. I have always liked Turini's and they are also pretty light, saving 3-4kg per corner! You can really feel it too.
I've since got used to the DSG, having never used one before. I do miss having a manual, but overall I think this box mated with the V6 makes for the best package, not to mention a little quicker.
It's not lowered at present, though some H&R springs are tempting! Cars fitted with those look just right in my opinion.
