S2sol's V70 T5 reached a milestone last night
Discussion

I bought this on eBay at the end of June with 244500 miles on it. Since then, it's had a precautionary cambelt, tensioners and waterpump, and a half hearted gearbox drain and fill.
I commute 9 miles each way in it, so it should have done roughly 1300 miles in the time I've owned it. I drive for a living, covering about 1400 miles a week, which makes the 4000 miles that have crept onto the Volvo even more of a surprise.
It's been on holiday in North Wales, 4 up with a dog and a roofbox, and makes occasional journeys from Bristol to Durham to visit the Mother in Law.
It's a great car, respectable enough to go anywhere, comfortable enough to go anywhere, and quick (in a straight line).
The torque steer is something else, and it's a bit thirsty. Gentle commuting with the odd decent run gives a (Volvo calculated) average of 28mpg. Hammering it to work at 4am brings that down to mid-teens, with terrifying tyre squeal.
It's the only car, except for an impulse buy X300 Jag, that my better half has deemed acceptable.
It falls into an uncomfortable niche for me between bangernomics and keeper status. I paid £1800 for it (P2 2007MY), which means that I've almost spent as much on fuel in 3 months as I did on the car. On the other hand, it's ever so tidy, bar a scrape on the NSR door, and it feels like it could go on for a long while yet.
MOT is due in November - it almost certainly wants a couple of drop links. If there's anything ruinous, it'll need to go. If it passes, it'll probably get the door fixed and a Grom iPhone kit. I'd like to make a little bit more noise on the induction side, too.
I booked it in for the MOT yesterday, having taken the precaution of taking a day's holiday today to sort any issues. It passed first time, with the only advisory being the led nearside rear position lights not working. Since there's a great big bulb just above them, it's good enough to pass.
It's on 251250 miles now. To say I'm pleased would be a huge understatement.
