New Daily - Audi A4 TDI

Well as I have started a graduate role I decided it was time I purchased something more sensible to use as a daily drive. My current Mk4 GTI was both terrible and costing me a lot to run so decided it needed to go after 15 months of ownership and 2 engines...
Set a budget of £6.5k and decided as I do approx 20k I needed something german and diesel to take advantage of my 45ppm I get from work currently. I ended up looking at an Audi A3, Volvo C30, 320D and then the car I purchased a Audi A4 TDI S Line.
I felt the BMW drove better but I wanted lowish miles (under 60 - 70k) and at this money all I could get was poverty specification when I really would have wanted a M Sport 330d and knew every-time I saw one it would piss me off.
Anyway onto the car its a 2006 Audi A4 TDI S Line 2006 only 45,000 miles and has just had the cambelt done as well car is actually immaculate inside and outside is like new as you would expect and for £6,500 I think I got a steal looking at similar cars. I pick it up Saturday and can't wait to be honest to have something nice and comfortable and cheap to run
Plans are to get the private plate removed and then give it a re-map and lower it slightly and then thats it to be honest don't want to mess around too much with it to be honest.
I still have my mini for fun at the weekends as well!

That was main picture on the advert I assume it was so people didn't glance and assume it was an 03 instead of an 06 when looking at the advert.Happy with it anyway despite the handbrake turn on the wet grass all four wheels have brand new tyres and were a decent brand and fact as had the cambelt done on age rather than mileage which many people forget suggests it was looked after mechanically wise it certainly drives like a low mileage car.
It just amused me that you'd use handbrake turn photos in the advert!
as I say, looks a nice car and by the sounds of it (premium tyres, early belt change) it's been looked after with a money no object approach. I say this as a man who picked up his TT from the garage in between posting today with a £600 cambelt invoice!

They is a local specialist by me that quoted me £329 for a cambelt + waterpump on an A4 for me take into account when looking for one.

Seems cheap. This was an independent (but Audi/BMW/Merc specialist) in Leeds as recommended on here. Price included an MOT as well but 6 hours labour on changing the belt - clearance on an A4 might be a damn sight easier for all I know.
Yeah think it is more like 3 hours on an A4 so that's probably part of the difference well say £150 then £50 for an MOT and not far off!Just picked it up did the 80 miles from Manchester nicely very quiet and smooth just as you would expect from a low mileage car its also more punchier than I expected it to feel coming from a 200hp Mk4 Golf certainly does not feel underpowered and is a lot nicer drive overall.
Its not got the firm ride S - Line Audis seem to be slated for to me seems to ride quite nicely compared to previous cars although saying that I do also own a classic mini... In terms of handling seems to grip well safe and predictable obviously not something to thrash down a lane but at the same time no where near as bad as some people seem to make out and is still a nice steer imo.
Overall very happy with my purchase for £6,500 for a car to do 15 - 20k miles a year alongside my mini for the weekends think it is one of the best options I could have taken and also that the car itself was a bargain it really is in very good condition hardly any stonechips even!

k me it is boring though may get it remapped as a tad sluggish but when my mileage goes down will be back to petrols for me! alistair1234 said:

I have driven one and it is a hell of a lot nicer drive to be honest and also has a better engine. I have accepted this is a posh Skoda Octavia whereas the BMW is a class ahead driving wise with a proper RWD chassis. I was an idiot and only want a low mileage M Sport and would not accept an SE so went for the A4 instead as an S-Line came within my budget with sub 50k.
Its not really a Octy, its a Passat with four rings planted on the front end. 
Theres 2 ways of looking at it, you could say boring or you could say reliable, solid and dare I say it Safe!
A mapped does pep the 2.0tdi up a bit. But no subs for a good RWD car if that's what you really wanted.
