After looking on and off at these for about year now, I finally found one that had to be bought. I came home from work and was idly looking online with a glass of red in hand and this jumped right out at me. A quick flick though the photos confirmed it looked good and that all the major things these cars need had been done. So, after phoning the seller, I agreed to look at it the next day. A few texts with him later on confirmed that he'd been inundated with calls but since I'd got in first by a few minutes, I had first refusal. A quick call to a mate who knows everything about 205s confirmed he had the afternoon off and that he would come with me. And so to bed, although I'll be honest I didn't sleep very well thinking about it 
The next morning I went to the bank and got the cash out and confirmed with my mate that he could drive my car home if required. So off we set and after briefly getting lost, we arrived. Well, it was pretty clear that after looking at it is a minter. The body work and paint are in superb condition, as is the interior and the suspension both front and rear has been overhauled and updated. The wheels had been refurbished and the four matching tyres were new. Best of all it's non PAS, non CAT and non sunroof. It also came with extensive history and every MOT since it was new (well 3 years old!). So the deal was done and I know own it. To say I'm pleased is an understatement and the drive home confirmed for me what a fun little car it is to drive
There's a few very minor things that need attention, a new drivers side door strap, the backbox hangar is bit wobbly and the hot idle is a little high. It will also need a cambelt fairly soon but over all it's a delight. I've managed to convince my wife that we will try to keep it in the family forever and never sell it as I think it's a keeper and I'd love to pass it to my son when he's older (he's only 8 now!). Anyway, here's some pictures! I'll update the thread periodically too.

Thanks chaps, I still can't quite believe it's mine! Just to expand on the opening post she's only done a smidge over 100k miles and is on a J plate being registered back in 1991.
Price was just over 4k, some may say that's over the odds but I was happy to pay it as its my perfect spec and if I didnt act quickly it would have sold. Besides you can't take it with you and I would like to think this is a keeper.

The few I've gone to see have been around 3k and have been a bit rough.Price was just over 4k, some may say that's over the odds but I was happy to pay it as its my perfect spec and if I didnt act quickly it would have sold. I went to see a black one that was fairly local and up for £3.5k and it was quite rough round the edges too, but prices for good ones seem very variable so it's hard to get a decent one without going to look.Miner49er said:

Wow! A lot of red cars are faded to pink now which really takes the edge off the colour, but my goodness that looks stunning Pete. A real credit to you too. The whole non sunroof thing was a complete fluke, I've never seen another one in a 1.9 advertised since I've been looking, they all seem to be 1.6 cars.
