Hi All, I can't see a recent thread on here about mk2 golfs, and I love em, so lets see your pics!! Here's my 8v racer acting as a boat. Hoping to get a road worthy one at some point too! [url]

Nice smile, look really tidy, a lot of fun too! My mum and dad had an old grey kjet 8 valve about 14 years ago when I was little, bought it for £500 but they said it was a rocket. I had a lot of memories in that car, loved them ever since!

I've had mine for quite a few years now... wasted far too much money on it to ever sell it... just sits in the garage most of the time but I do like just looking at it!

Currently has a 2.0TFSi engine and i'm away to do a 4WD conversion just for the craik... It's a keeper..

Great thread! Here's my little 16v, had it almost 2 years and think its great. Would love to have one as a track day toy!!

I've done a diary of the last 2 years owning it, have a read:

That looks so nice, hmm sounds like it must fly with that in it! Love those splits on it! Looks like a tastey car from stutgart you've got next to it too!?

Looks nice!!- I wish I had 16vs in my life!haha They do shift on the track, left a few m3s, lotus and porsches behind, always funny when they ask if it's an r32 or vr6 and it's just a little 8v! wink

I will have a read of that!

Good thread.

Here's mine. I really, really miss this car. One of the very last carb fed golfs. 1991 on a J plate. This was a 1.6 Golf Ryder which I believe to be a rare model.

Wish I never sold it :-( excuse the low res pic. This was a number of years ago.

Looks good! Yeah I think they are pretty rare now, most of them have probably had a 20vt or vr6 put in by now :/

Ah yes I've had a fair few mk2s over the years (sadly too many of them before digital cameras) and am one of the admin on the MK2 Golf Owners Club. My brother has also had a few to.

All my mk2s have been GTIs, mostly 16v a couple used as track cars , the others daily drivers plus the one below that was a long term project which I rebuilt from near enough a bare shell.

My pride an joy mk2 was a big bumper 90spec with G60 arches, custom royal blue & berry paint mix, a 2.0L 9A/KR hybrid engine and full leather

Plus this Oak green one that was mostly original accept for wheels & suspension

I currently have this 89 skinny bumper 16v that is undergoing a huge restoration or as I refer to it a "weldathon" including new sills, rear valance, scuttle panel and jacking points.

The aim is to completely respray and turn it into a mostly original show car i.e no cheapo coilovers, no replica BBS, no stickers, no scene bks just a completely period correct 89 16v in tornado red like this one.

At some point in the future I want a Syncro project with a VR6 engine inside, just need to organise getting a suitable storage facility that can cope with my existing VW collection before I make a trip to Europe on the hunt for a 3 door 4wd shell.

It was a tasty car... I eventually rejected it and handed it back to porsche.. shame as it was a great car. It's replacement is even more bonkers tho... caterham would leave the gt3 for dust...

That's a fair few! that project sounds pretty interesting. wink . I'm the same with storage, I'm trying to buy a 16v racecar (but can't come to terms with selling my 8v, it was my first car, saved up for it when I was 15, it's the family racecar now haha) but room is the issue! :/
