VW MK7 GOLF GTD........
Discussion
Picked up my new car about 3 months ago, after a 6 month wait getting built! :snare: Had enough of driving my Seat Ibiza or fake Polo as some would say!!! In my new job I'm covering about 2.5k miles a month so the new car had to be a real nice place to be! After a short test drive I was sold and sat down to with the salesman to select my options..........
Met Carbon Grey
3dr
Manual
Cloth
Sat nav
Keyless entry
Dynaudio
18' wheels
Rubber front mats
Here it is after its PDI awaiting my own Detailer going in to prep it for collection.......

There was a mix up with my plate so ended up leaving registered as a 64 plate until my new document came through :confused1:
I've now covered 7.5k miles and its a superb all rounder, I've added a DTUK tuning box that increased performance and also increased mpg, they claim 240 bhp and 500 torques! I'll wait till its on the rolling road before quoting actual figures?!?! It certainly has changed the acceleration bigtime......... :cool3:

I've been looking after it with cleaning and polishing using polish angel product and tbh with superb results!

Absolutely love the interior, proper comfortable place to be with all the toys I need! :v:

The only thing I wished I ticked was for the big brake conversion, as the callipers look too small Behind the wheel! That said they are fantastic and stop very well!!!! :bigthumbs:
Unlike all my other cars this will not be changed at all, only thing I've done is fitted 4 new Bridgestone winters, that's it folks!!!!! :eyebrows:

Looks great. Almost went for one of these but decided on the rline scirocco 150hp. How's the crdt tuning box working? Considering one for the rocco. Any concerns around warranty? Easy to fit?
Hi there, thanks.........the DTUK box has been great, better MPG and a bit quicker/more responsive in every gear. They quote figures but I'd rather wait to get it on the rolling road before talking numbers! In Sport mode using normal diesel (approx £50 to fill tank) I get 500+ miles everytime with varied driving and a lot of heavy right foot!!!!!
As regards warranty if anything broke I'd rather let Vw know and take the hit than try to cheat them!!!
It took me 7 minutes to fit, very easy with full instructions supplied. Basically one plug into the fuel rail and one into the boost, then a few to connect them to the very well put together box, impressed with the quality tbh!
It has 9 different settings, I tried a few and opted for Prog 3 + 2!
As soon as someone hosts a rolling road day I'll get it on and post up my results!........

Am I the only person that hates the seats in VW GTI and GTD cars?
I guess choosing leather interior gets rid of the stupid tartan seats but is there no other option for cloth seats?
other than that it looks like a great car, good choice
I opted for these seats as I really like the tartan!........ IMO the leathers look boring, each to their own I guess?!?!? Thanks.......I guess choosing leather interior gets rid of the stupid tartan seats but is there no other option for cloth seats?

184bhp I think. I was a real cynic about the whole 'Golf thing' until my missus got her GTD company car and I've got to say I'm very impressed by the thing much to my own disappointment.
Sadly she had an argument with another car last Friday so it's currently having a new front corner fitted to it meaning she's tooling around in an Insignia which is nasty in comparison.

Nice car
Are they 170bhp standard? Not sure I'd have used a tuning box though - suppose you would lose the warranty if you remapped it though, whereas that could just be removed?
Thanks, this model is 184bhp.........I was curious to feel what difference these boxes made, that's all?!?!?Are they 170bhp standard? Not sure I'd have used a tuning box though - suppose you would lose the warranty if you remapped it though, whereas that could just be removed?

Unfortunately, just like a heroin addict, any changes leave track marks.... Just a matter of looking in the right places. If you're concerned about warranties, just say no full stop. Vauxhall and Ford have really cracked down on this in the last 6yrs and others are following suit. Are they 170bhp standard? I'm with you on this and after only owning it a few months I'm trying to convince my wife to change her 2012 Audi A5 3.0tdi for a new Golf R! IMO the Golf is a better all round car than the A5..........especially in R guise?!?!
