My very brief car history

Hi all, New to Piston heads
As I am only 20 and passed my test around 7 months ago I have a very brief, but in my opinion not to bad car history

Here it goes...

November 2011
Datsun 260z 2+2 (2.6 straight six)
Didnt have a driving licence, Always liked Datsuns (especially 240s) I Managed to locate a right hand drive 260z 2+2 in Holland for £3500. I had enough saved up and a little help from daddy, who came over to drive to back to the Uk.

Bought only running on 3 cylinders, rusting on the front. But all the same a bargain.
Currently cant drive it as insurance on a classic 2.6 sports car is much more than I afford... At least i get to look at it.

The Datsun is a work in progress currently new carbs are being installed.

My sisters car which I have and have had free reign over since then, Nice little city run around and good on the petrol. A good fun car which I still drive now.

Saab 9-3 2.0T vector cabrio

Managed to get insured on it for £350 annually, with 6 months having a driving license I couldnt believe it...especially with 175HP under my right foot. Coming from a 1.2 It felt like a Bugatti.

I very quickly got bored of the power, started falling down the slippery slope of car tuning/modication
Have since added the Aero wheels with winter tyres, Also considering adding Aero body kits.


I found someone who remapped the car from the stock 175hp to 210-220 region...so much torque!

The fuel bill is killing me (25MPG)...well worth it.

Love the Datsun, when do you think you will be able to insure it and get it on the road? I thought that would be easier to insure than the Saab especially since you have done a few mods to it. Can't you get the Datsun on a cheap classic policy?

Also, my eyes rant deceiving me, that is a 1995 N plate isn't it?... Seems a late plate for these surely or am I wrong? I don't know a great deal about these to be fair...

Love the Datsun and hopefully you keep it in the standard condition it is in now.

Wish it had an old registration on it instead of the N reg I think it would look better and more fitting to the car.

I tried far and wide to get insurance on it, cheapest being £4500. Although I am insured with someone over the age of 30 next to me as a supervised driver...its means I drive it on occasion but that's about it.

You're both right about the plate, its a DVLA error...someone in Swansea must have hit the town the night before ha.
I still need to get it sorted out, one of those things I keep putting off.

I'm defiantly going to keep it stock, it's been a dream car for years and I love it. I only ever seen a handful of 70s Zeds on the road aside from car shows, such a rare and beautiful shape.
