BMW F22 M235i Owner - (New Member)

Hello everyone finally decided to join the forum (so go easy on me) and currently a very proud owner of a Melbourne Red BMW F22 M235i as you can tell from the title of my topic.

I have owned her for 8 months now and specced her up myself and probably over did it slightly on the options list department.

Will confess to it being an 8 speed automatic rather than a manual, so sorry purists this is not one of those.

So far avoided the temptation of M-Performance parts for the M235i, which you can blame my past experience with cars with official accessories putting me off from doing the same on this one for a while at least.



If any of you have any questions about my current car or anything else please feel free to ask it.

Also looking forward to spending some time on this forum

and will get around eventually to sort out more photos etc.

Nice one, haven't seen a 235 in that colour before. I have a 135i in Estoril Blue, that ZF gearbox is pretty impressive isn't it!

Lovely car, and good to see someone pick a colour other than white, silver or black!
You said you got a bit carried away with the options - just curious but did opt to have a Limited Slip Diff?

I am glad I picked red I wanted something unusual that could not blend in.

Yeah is certainly a damn impressive gearbox surprises me how fast it is and how well it chooses its gears etc.

Will be honest never seen a silver one of mine (thats the only colour I have not seen), but the black and whites are pretty common of the M235i's, because thats the colours they built in bulk for launch (it was like 1 week for white or black or 3 months for any other colour).

No i did not have the diff fitted I was worried about the insurance being a modification and figured I never have it with the traction control off (only reduced), but I can have it fitted whenever i want to (its fitted by the BMW servicing not the factory).

But will see about the diff might get one fitted to it, but I believe its like £2,000 for it.

and yeah I am the same only seen three M235i on the road (two white and a blue), i have only seen them around in the dealerships etc.

FYI: I don't think the diff would have been counted as a modification if it comes with it from factory.

The optional diff does not come from the factory even if you specified the diff to be on it when you order it.

They fit it in the dealership for you before hand over etc.

So it would have counted as a modification sadly.

Looks like BMW may have missed a trick there then - put it in at the factory and it isn't a modification? Maybe it affects the CO2.....!?
Anyway a great car OP.
This and the M135i are the only current BMW's I would want to own - well until the M2!

Cracking car OP....but then I am biased. Was originally going to go with Melbourne red but went with estoril in the end. Recommend joining baby BMW if your not already on there. Great sub forum for the m135/m235.

Phenomenal piece of kit. Surprisingly this is a quicker car than a Macan Turbo, as I found out the other night.

What spec have you got on the car? Absolutely love Melbourne Red on the M235i...

Mr Tidy from what I know the main reason they did not fit the diff standard is a combination of keeping cost down and leaving room for the M2 and a 1M (if they decide to do a hatchback version).

also nice choice of colour on yours.

thanks Cerb that was one reason I went for the auto, that and it suits the whole different driving modes creating a car with multiple personalities, also improves mpg and would make the car worth more when it comes to saying goodbye to it (which I do not see that coming for a while)

Not seen a red one out on the road yet but looks ace from the picture. Hope you are enjoying it, really thought about getting one but I just couldn't love it.
