Clio Trophy Scud

Bought a clio trophy early last year and decided to make it as focused as possible, here is the spec:


Brakes:
Clio 197 front 4 pot 300mm brembos
Clio 197 rear calipers and pads with custom made disc and hub assembly
Clio 197 Larger master cylinder
Ferodo DS 1.1 Pads front and rear (these are exceptional)
HEL Brake Lines
front fog lights removed and brake cooling ducting with deflectors installed

Interior:
Rear KTR Bootmat
Sabelt Renaultsport steering wheel
Sabelt harnesses
Richbrook Slant Top Gearknob (as used on the swiss clio trophies)
Safety devices half roll cage
Tillett B1 racing seats

Suspension:
Cooksport springs
Camber bolts
KTR racing mounts

Engine:
PMS Motorsport A/C delete kit
RS tuner 98 ron remap
ITG filter
Scorpion full exhaust
Decat
Redtop 20 racing battery and custom mounts

Exterior:
Fibreglass bonnet
High vis mirrors


Removal of:
Stereo
Speakers
Rear Seats
Soundproofing / all internal 'tar'
Passenger/driver airbags
Interior carpets (replaced with special extremely lightweight material)
Seatbelts and all assemblys
Air conditioning
Standard battery
Standard bonnet

the car drives like an absolute dream both on the road and on the track, it's very responsive to any steering inputs and the brakes are extremely strong and progressive, grip on both sets of tyres is very good on track I use a seperate set of alloys which have Federal RSR's fitted to them which I also rate highly.

I just adore driving this car and think nothing of popping to the shops in it, always feels like an event!

Car looks fantastic, but those wing mirrors I'm sure they serve a purpose but they really spoil the look of the car

Looks amazing and very tidy, especially for a track prepared car. The work and components used look top notch.


..........I think the mirrors need going back to capsicum though!

Love it, but I think the mirror colour would work better on a blue or white car

But if we all liked the same stuff...

Do NOT take those mirrors off.

I have radiant red mirrors on a mallard green Cosworth.

From the photos the fiberglass bonnet kind of ruins the clean look but I guess it's function>form

the alternative was a fully carbon fibre bonnet then paint it, the problem is for a good quality one it's £1,500 (iirc)
function over form - saved ~7kg iirc !

sometimes I have daydreams where I think about what if Renault had made this car as a trophy-r version in limited quantities, what would the press reviews been like? it's really *that* much better than the already good standard car. the most uncomfortable aspects are the decat (noisy) and slight vibrations through the wheel when stationary from the engine mounts oh and having to leave it on a trickle charger because of the lightweight battery!

Brilliant, love it! ordered myself a Richbrook gearknob as well can't wait for it. I've got a 182 FF which delivers great smiles, can image this is right giggle! I'm not a jealous man but...

I was going to say "love it" until I clocked the mirrors, wavy bonnet and seats/steering wheel. Still easy enough to change.

Maybe it's rose tinted glasses, but I still think of my time with a Brand new Trophy back when they came out as some of the best drives I had.

Small size, over engined feel, and that handling/ride combo....sensational IMO when they came out.

Even with the mirrors I love it. I can imagine that's huge fun to drive, and makes some considerably more expensive cars look a bit silly when things get bendy.
