SAAB 95 aero shed
Discussion
Recently upgraded the shed from the 1.6 Xsara to 95 aero.
I'm loving it, 2004 in espresso black, 107k miles with full history, recent front pads & discs and came in at £2k.
It is one of the comfiest cars I've had, more comfy than the wife's FFRR.
It has enough grunt in sport mode to keep me interested and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
The wife hates it and thinks it puts 20yrs on me, personally I love the styling. It is very European looking but the back end from roof to boot looks great IMHO.
A lot of car for the money !
(How do I post pics ???)

Noobtune is a no-brainer, 80 quid and it will transform the power delivery.
Nice colour, the best out there I reckon!

Stage 1 is 275bhp and 420nm, Stage 3 is 295bhp and 440nm. IMO Stage 1 was a bit rubbish, there was a bit more noise but it didn't seem that much faster. I'd say go straight to Stage 3, or just leave it as standard as it's not exactly a slow car.

Lots of people will say dont bother with stage 1, go straight to stage 3 but don't underestimate the power delivery in a well sorted stage 1 Aero. For £80 it really is a bargain and no hassle at all. I won't bother going stage 3 unless I happen to need a new down pipe anyway and then it might be worth bothering with. The car is more than quick enough for me.
Mine is stage 1, and the increase in torque is the most noticeable factor. The car feels more brutal now and accelerates HARD. The big issue is that most people get a stage 1 remap but the car isn't running right (lots of things cause boost issues on the aero which they don't notice). The beauty of getting stage 1 through Karl is he will also allow you to access open SID (loads of functions through the SID) which will allow you to pinpoint any issues such as failing ignition cassette (misfires) or loss of boost. Worth it just for this and experiencing the extensive knowledge that Karl has.

The APC is a very common problem and can rob boost. The vacuum hoses to and from the bypass valve are also troublesome as well as the one way valves in the EVAP system, hence the bolt mod.
I am massively impressed with mine now, and I'm especially glad I have a manual gearbox! I need to be so careful, as I find myself doing silly speeds!

Yeah, higher octane and they run much better supposedly.
When I was chatting to Karl we were discussing the merits of the engines 'sweet spot' in terms of fuel economy. For the Aero its at 2500rpm approximately. The engine is most efficient at this engine speed which actually means that sitting at about a steady 75mph is going to be more economical than lower engine speeds as the engine is having to work harder. He was saying that the car is most economical in fourth gear at 50mph through motorway roadworks (cruise control on) as the engine speed is approx 2500rpm.

Very impressed, I (too!) have an Aero Estate ('02)- as there are 3 threads within 5 lines of each other right now I won't add mine, but I will say that Stage 1 is well worth it, though I am currently trying to track down a boost issue, without the open SID I wouldn't know where to start!
Dangerous territory, but I have a set of poly trailing arm bushes enroute.. Could the the start of a slippery slope...

Boost issue - Maybe needs a new APC valve?Dangerous territory, but I have a set of poly trailing arm bushes enroute.. Could the the start of a slippery slope...
Go on, let's see some pics!
