Tell us some more about it!
01 C4 - FSH with IMS upgrade and immaculate - hard to resist! Hadn't been looking for another car but I'd always hankered after a 911. Not wanting to sell my Z4M and use that towards a Gen 2 997, when I saw this 996 locally, I though it was worth a punt! It's so smooth and refined compared to the Z, and the - for want of a better word - breeding shines through. It just feels so well honed, with none of the raw and rough edges of the Z... I do love cars that are defined by their engines... and although the first water-cooled flat 6 in the 996 is the poor relation, it's a pretty compelling poor relation. As I mentioned in the initial post, I'd never liked 996 lights, and now suddenly I'm looking at them in a different light and thinking that maybe they still don't look so bad!So after a rather alarming sudden coolant loss which I've been exploring via the Porsche section here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... (and now hopefully sorted), I'm slowly rebuilding trust. Even though it is the most humble and least loved 911 it really is a different experience to all the other cars I've had, and can really see why 911s get under people's skin to the exclusion of all else. It doesn't detract from the Z4M that I also have, which feels totally different in every conceivable way to the 996.

love these. How much would a decent one set you back and you reckon it could be used as a daily?
About £10k will get you into a good one, less if you're luck, a little more if you want to be safe. No reason why it couldn't be used as a daily I'd have thought - they are pretty robust and reliable (in theory)Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

But don't worry about it - if it happens, it happens. Enjoy the car
