Erm, woke up this morning to an email congratulating me on the winning bid on EBay...

Wtf??!

Oh yes, remember that silly bid you threw on for a LHD '83 Renault 4, in BEIGE??!

That!

Well at least it's a bargain price (true), appears solid (fingers crossed) & local (erm, nope it's 200 miles away!)

Morale of the story is stay away from the keyboard on a Friday night after a couple of glasses of fermented grape juice...

Doh

Get the link up, lets have a look at it then....

Your almost obliged to start a thread about it also, the journey to collection, first eyes on it, drive home, one week of ownership etc etc...

Yep, that's the one!

Had two R4s as first cars as a student & had been looking for a solid base to play with, but perhaps not just yet!!

So I've finally spoken to the vendor this morning, who turns out to be both a gentleman & a petrol-head of the highest order & has a barn in France where he now resides, that contains a further 2 R4s along with another 5 or 6 french cars that he is gradually clearing out & selling on as he settles down to retire.

If the car is as clean underneath (bar the piece of welding on o/s sill) as he is telling me & the pics seem to indicate, then I've actually fluked a great little example of an R4.

He has run through all of the faults as he sees it, most are tiny cosmetic issues & needs an oil change but he's already got the filter in the boot for me!

Needs a pair of tyres (£30 each!) & the welding, so should see me about a further £150 all in for the MOT.

A shiny & tidy R4 for less than £1500 on te road & registered in the UK? Happy days, as most I've been watching in France & here are around the £2.5k plus mark these days.

The vendor has even offered to deliver it (ie drive it up from Suffolk!) for the price of some fuel & his train fare. Now that demonstrates some confidence in the car!!

Updates to follow...

Great retro looks, totally practical, economical in town, classic car tax, you can find it in a car park, ..... 5 out of 5 over a Nissan Leaf smile
