Bargetastic Banger. Ovlov S80

I decided to give the old bangernomics a go.
I had a look at various Honda Accord and Lexus barges. None were too great and to be honest the supposed private seller turned out to be side street sellers who were shonky as.
Anyway back to it. Up popped this old Banger from an old friend.
A 2002 Volvo S80 2.4 Manual.
I have always liked big volvo barges so though i would at least look. It had a Full service history and 2 timing belt changes, 4 new tyres and a full tank of fuel.
Result bought it with a short MOT and took a chance.
Threw it in for an mot and all it needed was a track rod end and a tie rod.
Its as comfy as sitting on the couch and near silent on the motorway. Many miles ahead will be enjoyed.

Even found some strange Chubby bloke in the boot.

Nice! Just be sure to check which throttle module its got, I think they switched from Magneti Marelli to Bosch around that time (assuming this engine is the same one that found itself in the S60's and V70's of the time). The former are the problem ones as they have all the electronics housed inside. They get sticky and gummed up and the contact strip inside used for position feed back wears out. The bosch ones are much more reliable, but most of the electronics is contained in the ECU (I think) so you can never do a straight swap.
I would really love a later S80 with the Yamaha 4.4 V8. Now thats a machine!

Looks lovely, and £600 is a decent price! Great colour too, and I always loved those wheels - my dad had a T6 in a similar red with the same wheels.

My dad now has one of the V8s and it's great fun in a Volvo, even though it's not actually that fast. Sounds nice though, and can surprise people I would really love a later S80 with the Yamaha 4.4 V8. Now thats a machine!
Good choice - I'm 8 months into owning my 140k S80 2.0T SE Auto and loving it!
Definitely no sports car (obviously) but not as bad as some make out. What it does lack in the twisties it definitely more than makes up for in the waft department anyway. The comfort and toys definitely make up for the 22mpg I get round town. How did I ever live without heated seats?
