This is the first time I've had a genuinely PH worthy vehicle after 60 or so 70s/80s GM cars so I thought it worthy of its own thread.

A new baby forced me to look for a family wagon to replace my Bedford CF (yes really) so rather than the default Zafira/Picasso/Galaxy I decided to look for the cheapest 500hp estate I could. That lead me to this, the actual car a certain Jezza Clarkson filled with cheese and ragged up Manchester Airport runway. It's got a bulging service history, drives perfectly, sounds f**kin' amazing and is in perfect nick inside and out.

Being the cheapest on the market by quite some margin there are however some small issues - rear parking sensors and duff distronic being the most obvious. However coming from a 30 year old Bedford having doors that keep water out is a novelty so I can survive by looking out the back while reversing and out the front while on the motorway. It's going in to a mates garage for MOT on Monday and to get to the bottom of the niggles. Here's hoping they're relatively straightforward (if not cheap) to fix

Parking sensors ar usually a cheap fix...usually one is faulty. Just locating the faulty one.

Top motor though and out of interest is this the one that was so cheap it looked like a scam?

Very nice indeed. Do you find yourself shouting 'power' more than usual?

That's nice!

You just have to love a fast wagon, and this one is ace!

I was only watching the episode of TG with this in it the other day. This or the M5? tough choice, but I'd be happy with either!

How cheap is 500bhp cheap (if you don't mind me asking?).

All the best

Excellent, nicely done! This just got me straight back on Auto Trader looking at AMG's. As others have said, please keep this updated with plenty of photo's as I'd be very interested to see what it's like to run one of these beasts

So let me get this straight, you have traded a CF for this...TBH absolute maximum man points for both vehicles, any pics of the CF?

Yeah this was the car that was 30% cheaper than the rest but the seller was a top bloke who'd just had the brakes and suspension rebuilt and a fresh set of boots fitted so I really was a lucky boy with the price smile we settled on £11.5k which tbh is more than I've ever spent on a vehicle but then, well, look at it. It's an E63! biggrin

The boot floor still works but all I've used it for so far is moving a spanky new tool chest.

I've updated the fleet now but yeah I have a few cars. I've got pics of the CF but they make it look a LOT better than it is. I'll get some pics as it is and start a new build thread on that too smile

I'll update later this week after its MOT and service. Let's see what the mechanics find!

I made a few enquiries about this, spoke to the PO garage etc.
Sounded a solid car so hopefully a decent buy for you at a good price.
I went for a e55 instead.

55's are easier to add power too, but if you're keeping it stock I'd say you've missed out. frown

Interesting, it's rare that 55k owners would prefer a NA 63. Biturbo maybe but that's a whole different ballgame.
Quite happy with my choice thanks as no doubt is the OP.
Hope it all goes well (and quickly!)

A great analogy that I saw once was that the 55k engine is like a hot rod/street car and the 63 feels more like a race car. Mainly due to where the power bands lie and personally I think the 63 makes a better noise at higher revs. Also by time you're pushing 700bhp from a 55k you're nearly at Kleeman conversion on a 63 money, and that can be nearly 800bhp. If you're into that sort of thing wink
