Barge Content - W221 S Class 320 CDI

My previous car choices have been quite eclectic ranging from two Audi S6 V10's (a saloon and an avant), a RR Vogue 3.6 TDV8, RR Sport Supercharged and 996 C4S.
My most recent car was a RRS 4.2 Supercharged. Nice but I didn't really get on with it. I wanted to get back into an Audi. A third S6 would have been a bit boring. I really wanted a V10 S8 but those within budget were a bit high mileage and ropey. I wanted a barge but something with a little poke. I live in Manchester City Centre and also work in it too however I can sometimes do one or two longer trips a week depending on work. The fuel consumption of the RRS was bearable but was a bit of a nightmare on those days which required a long drive. Maybe a big diesel could be a compromise between fuel economy and performance?
Although I have always been a bit of an Audi fan boy (I love the build quality of the interiors and the quattro in winter), my eye got wandering onto the other two big germanic marques. I started looking at BMW 7 series but decided I didn't really like the looks. Then I started looking at the W221 S Class. What you got for your money seemed to be phenomenal. Having a quick flick through Autotrader led me to go and see this car in Liverpool on Tuesday (poor photo's from the seller)...
What struck me first was the blue. I've never seen another S Class in this colour and it suits it down to the ground. A bit different from the drab black, grey and silvers that they normally come in. I'd describe it as a dark inky blue, just like the Red Bull racing F1 cars.
Further investigation into the advert on Autotrader revealed this to be a car breathed on by Brabus when it was new. A lot of dealer fit Brabus options were thrown at this car including:
Front and Rear bumpers
Quad Exhaust
Illuminated door sill treadplates
Under vehicle lighting (not Fast and Furious style may I hasten to add)
Suspension lowering module
D6 engine upgrade taking power to around 290 bhp
I test drove it on Tuesday and went to pick it up on Thursday morning. Private deal. The previous owner had this and a BMW 730. He had also just bought a 65 plate E63 and needed to get rid of both the S Class and the 730 and get into a new 760.
Even though I liked the car on the test drive, I instantly fell in love with the car on the way home. It is such a relaxing drive. Even though both of my old Range Rovers had air suspension, they rode nothing like this. The car seems to glide along and is such a comfortable drive. The drive from Liverpool back to Manchester was a dream.
The gadgets and toys this car has is amazing. It's one of the cars I've which I need to read the manual! MPG around town seems to be around 25mpg which is good when you're coming from the Range which does circa 12mpg!
Plans for the future is a full service, deep clean of the interior and clay bar, polish and wax of the paint.
