So......
Browsing Autotrader around 4:30pm on Friday, I spotted a nice old 100 avant in red. Looked pretty tidy, so gave the guy a call. Sounded genuine enough and had owned it since 1993 so I was then on a plane to Birmingham at 7am the next morning then a train to Cheltenham Spa, where the guy would pick me up. Had a good look over the car, enjoyed the drive to his house(huge farm/country house/mansion) and had a read through the history file, which was about 2 inches thick, while sorted insurance. So once that was done, I had parted ways with £700 and a full tank of petrol included and started my 354 mile journey back home.
Made it home without any issues whatsoever, the polar opposite of the white Quattro I bought a few months ago. Few things need done, but they're minor and can be done in my own time.
The list of jobs to be done are as follows;
Tyres
Service
Top up of gearbox oil
New windscreen(not essential)
New stereo headunit

I have very fond memories of our old 100 CD Avant when I was growing up. Apart from the time it grenaded its gearbox when I was being driven to hospital in it having broken my arm in a football match...
Ours was white, and B reg with multi spoke alloy wheels which required use of a sledge hammer to remove them when changing the brake pads as they had stuck themselves fast to the hubs.
