I was given this yesterday. Totally gratis, free, no charge and tbh I can see why 
It's got a massive 12 days MOT left, a small dent you might notice & needs new rear discs, the running problem sorting (coughs and splutters so I'm thinking MAF or plugs as a starting point), the massive clonk from the suspension at the rear and new wipers. I'm ignoring the dodgy radio, leaking sunroof and non-working nsf leccy window currently.
On the good side it's got half leather and the aircon button works, doesn't get cold but that's a minor point. Oh, mileage is 82k. Plus those roof rails will NEVER rust (yes they are made of wood!).

What's the best way to clean a MAF? I'm thinking spray lots of carb/injector cleaner in and don't brush it.

It got used as a work hack by a handyman so yeah a hard life. As to the back door, local scrotes where it used to get parked decided to kick it one night. I'm half tempted to push the dent out but looking at the cracked paint I think it'd look worse afterwards.I like the patina on the back door :P

I don't get comments like this. I've had quite a few French cars and all have been nailed together as well as anything else.I like the patina on the back door :P
The glovebox on a Passat shuts with a reassuring clunk, despite the fact the water pump needed redesigning on the 1.8T after 5 mins of production....German engineering.
The dials on a mk4 Golf are blue, despite the fact the car is a lump of turd to drive.....German engineering.
A Merc costs 30% more than its rivals, but it's 'prestige', despite the fact it's billy-basic.....German engineering.
Anything French is viewed as s
te, because people don't tend to like the French. As such, if something gets beaten around and has a very hard life, it's old, st and French. If it's German it's more like "Wow, it's still going! What a car!"It's not racism as such, but it's on the same tracks.
As for the OP, all nations produce decent cars, and crap cars, and that goes for France too. Even though Lagunas like this are comfy, safe, smooth riding, well-equipped and generally relaxing ways to motor around for the money, I wouldn't touch it with your barge pole, let alone mine.

2001 Laguna Dynamique 1.8 Estate.I still like them. Carry on. My 2008 Laguna was bedevilled with so many electrical failures I got shot in 8 months. But I still miss it's comfort, refinement and economy.

My main experience of renaults is my dad having a 21GTS that burst the brake servo at 70ish, this dropped the brake fluid on the engine & set light to it. Cue the entertainment of a 70mph handbrake stop as the dashboard started to melt.
This Laguna is Y reg too, so I'll look forward to the free heating

The post was a bit of a joke. I haven't had a whole lot of experience with Renault, though what I've seen of Peugeot, is they're bullet proof. I'd rather have a Peugeot than a german car. I'd leave the dints. Cousin bought a dirt cheap Volvo full of dints, nobody tries to cut him up. It scares people off
Don't worry my lord nothing that doesn't need spending is being spent.
I had a fiddle tonight and got it running about 75% better. All I did was close the plug gaps by a third. The plugs look damn old so I guessed a smaller gap to see what happened.
Now I know it can run ok I'll buy the brake bits, £107 for discs n pads on the rear. They cost so much as the wheel bearings are integral. A bit of time cleaning the throttle body should sort the engine. Then along with new wipers it should get a MOT. After that a service to spoil it and abuse it for a year.
Oh I removed the wooden roof rails too. Didn't want to be the only non-morgan owner to have a car with dry rot!

We have one of these on our 'fleet', near identical to yours. Bought a year ago as a one owner FSH inc recent cambelt 45K miler, £1200. We call it 'the dogmobile', as that is what we use it for, along with tip runs, and various other spare car duties. It is slow beyond belief, it has a hateful gearbox, and is so dull to look at, but on the flipside it coins the term motorised sofa, and has steering feel to shame an (01 onwards) Mondeo. We have had much 'free' mileage from it, and whilst I can't suggest I love it, I'm greatful for it being around.
We'll probably keep it till it dies; it's now at near 70k and worth less than a grand, but so what, it does it's job perfectly
