2008 Mustang Bullitt

After what seems like an age trying to source either a GT500 or Bullitt to sit alongside my 67 fastback, I finally collected my new acquisition yesterday. I put a wanted post on the Mustang Owners Club forum, a forum member got in touch regarding his 2008 Bullitt. So after a few emails and telephone calls, we agreed a price and arranged yesterday for collection. Having not seen the car in the flesh, the 6 hour train ride from Nottingham to Dorset was a little nerve racking, but the car was as described and after a few minutes waiting for the money to be transferred, the car was mine!

The Bullitt was a limited run in 2008 and 2009. The main differences between a standard GT is Highland Green paint (as per the movie car), debadged exterior, suspension upgrades, engine upgrades (power upto 315bhp)and strut brace with numbered Bullitt plaque.

We have relatives in Somerset so decided to make a weekend of it and return to Nottingham today. The near 200 miles drive home was great, I'd forgotten how relaxing a modern Mustang can be compared to my 67! The Bullitt has covered 36000 miles with just one previous owner to Andy, with a full history with Atlantic and Bill Shepherd. I'm really looking forward to using the Bullitt, especially a Mustang Owners Club trip to Belgium in May.

As it was a nice day when we returned, it would be rude not to give it a quick clean, here's a few pics.

Looks great - I used to occasionally see one of these around Enfield and always had a good look.

I must admit that I'd be really tempted by some louvred quarter window covers though, and looking at Google it seems to be something many Bullitt owners have done!

Thanks guys. The thing that attracted me to the Bullitt was its understated looks. It has a few aftermarket parts fitted, the rear light bezels, front bumper splitter and UK spec radio. I really wanted a Shelby GT500, but the Bullitt is a nice compromise.

Funny you should say that, I was looking at them last night. The rear quarter windows are quite useful for vision when overtaking on the motorway so that will have to be taken into account. What I am talking about, who cares about vision as long as it looks good!

I agree with the above. When I tried rear quarter louvres it creates a big blind spot. I took them off the next day.

I've decided against fitting the louvers. Although they look good, I think it will detract from the clean lines of the car. I will just spend the money I've saved on fuel instead!

As I have been off work today, I managed to get some better pictures of the Bullitt. Also had time to give the engine bay a wipe over and gave the seats a clean and feed. Ford really got the sound right with the Bullitt. Its much more vocal than my old 05 GT, but subdued when not on it. Loving it so far!
