Lexus ISF

So according to 'How Many Left', my new steed is one of 219 on the road right now. Quite rarified atmosphere up here, but I'll take it.

Having finally succeeded in taxing the car over a weekend / change of month / public holiday, I'm now mobile again. So some details and a few photos are in order I think.

Car is a 2010 Lexus ISF in black, with black leather interior currently sitting on 55.5k miles and other than the notoriously soft Lexus paint, isn't looking too bad. Couple of mods that I can readily identify; body coloured trim for the front grille, and an all important valved cat back exhaust with the secondary cats removed (sounds rather awesome). And being 2010 with the blue trim to the steering wheel, it has some tech updates, an LSD and the revised suspension.



















While Mitsubishi would be an appropriate make to reference when talking about a Japanese car, I'm going to revert to type and say it sounds like a Spitfire when pushing on.

It's really rather good fun. Tally that with the second intake flap opening at around 3500 and it goes full NASCAR. I'm wondering about an intake swap to an HPS tube and a uprated flat panel filter, but I think I'll get used to this setup for a bit before making any judgement calls.

I'd really like one of these, I told myself I'd get one after our next house move, but looks as though it'll be yet another new kitchen instead. You can't drive a kitchen, but Top Gear has shown you can cook using a car.

Who did the exhaust? It's just a saw one of these having a new large-bore system being fabricated in AAS in Newcastle a few months and could only imagine the noise....

It was done by the previous owner to me (I think) and actually fabricated by Originiall Fabrications who have a facebook page (which I can't link to from work) that has a low res video of this exact system up and running.

Indeed, family / trips away are dealt with by the Disco and my commute and fun is served by the ISF.

Total combination: V12 - 8.0l - 669bhp.
Which is nice.

Nope, an issue came up (grumblings from the S4 S-Tronic gearbox) and aligned itself with an opportunity (a friend looking to offload his ISF) and I went for it.

He offered it to me at trade-PX level including the exhaust, the winter tyres and recent pads, so why not. He's now in an A45 and missing the ISF / suggesting the stereo / noise is not up to scratch. Still, I like my seat so he can't have it back (unless it's a straight swap).

I guess it all worked out well. Given the amount your paid for the ISF you could drive around in it for a year, sell it on and still not lose anything.

Funnily enough, the garage that service it have a very keen enthusiast / collector who's made noises about buying it if it were available. In true capitalist fashion, I could wait for the V5c to come through and simply phone him up and get him to make an offer. It would be guaranteed to be higher than what I paid for the car.

But then I'd miss out on all that noise and drama.

I could probably sell mine on at a profit but I'm only 3 months into ownership and I can't think of anything else in the same sort of price bracket that I would prefer. Keep it and enjoy the performance, noise and hassle free ownership!

I like the sound of your exhaust on the video you mentioned, seems that was taken before the secondary cats were removed.
