Hi all,

After mucking around with various cars over the years, including Imprezas, an Evo 6, Skyline R33 GTR, Golf GTi, BMW E30, E46,E36, I've recently bought a car I've been resisting, a MK1 Audi TT 225ps Quattro Coupe.

The car is in great shape with no expense spared by previous owners, and sports some nice touches, including a set of 18s, lowering springs and a V6 rear spoiler, add to that an S2000 cone filter, Forge diverter valve and decat pipe.

In all honesty, the standard car is slightly muted with 0.9 bar boost, but it handles beautifully and has much more grip than I'm prepared to test on a public road, hence I'm about to book up for a track day and see how well I get on.

A stage 1 remap, which will be my next proper modification, should see the car at around 260bhp, and boost raised to 1.4 bar I believe with approx 270 torque. Those figures are just approximations anyhow, I stopped chasing figures a long time ago.

Anyway, here it is....

And this is for the Audi TT haters lol....

I hope you like, I'm sure there are people out there that appreciate these cars, for me, I wish I'd done it a long time ago, I'm excited about my TT journey cool

That looks very nice. I've always fancied one, my parents had one years ago and it felt like a very solid and well made car. Never got to drive it sadly! Having a look through the classifieds at them now... laugh

I was up close to one of these for the first time recently and I have to say I was mightily impressed. The interior has dated very very well, as have the looks for that matter (the wheel arches are bigger than I thought). I think an immaculate 225 would be a bit of classic one day.

LOL at last pic. OP are you drying your beard there? wink

Nice! I've had mine for almost two years now and absolutely love it. Was my retirement present to myself. It's a one owner, low mileage car with good history and it's the 'facelift' model (lowered suspension, RS4 alloys and various other minor bits).
Only change I've made is to fit Calibre alloys, tho' I've kept the RS4 alloys for winter use.

I was expecting a degree of hatred, but you guys made my day already lol
The car has sparked debate and a mixed amount of opinions amongst my friends, mostly because it's supposed to be a feminine car, a hairdressers dream, but if you've driven one on country lanes you'd 100% change your thoughts should that be the way you were thinking.

I'm not the greatest track driver admittedly, I lack confidence amongst faster and better drivers, always being pushed off line to make way, which can leave me struggling on some of the bigger faster bends, so I need an attitude transplant and mainly a new set of balls, but ultimately a full track day instead of 15 minute sessions at some of the seasons big shows.

If anyone can recommend me a perfect day for learning and not too expensive, I'm all ears, preferably within a decent distance of Buckinghamshire.

Thats a nice looking car. I was looking at TT's before buying my RX8. Its an itch I may still have to scratch at some point.

I was looking for a blue one, like the one above, but this came up and was in such good condition I just couldn't resist it.

Previously I was looking at TT's, but went for a MK4 Golf 1.8t as I couldn't find a good car for my budget and Lao I was put off by the opinions of others, something I should've risen above.

These are great cars, future classics I wouldn't doubt.
Surprisingly the boot is kind of large considering the small car, but it really isn't fit for adults in the rear seats.

One really funny thing, I found a shoe horn in the spare wheel with the tools, which absolutely cracked me up considering I'm not small framed lol

Looking good! A design classic.

O/H has one just like that but 100% original - she loves it.
(And was surprisingly good fun round the Nurburgring last week just before the N24 closed the circuit)

Maybe give Rockingham a bell / email? I know they have instructors available and do cheapo Saturday Friday taster track days..

I think the Nurburgring is something I'd like to do next year but ideally get some track time under my belt first.
The stage 1 remap should really make an already fun car pretty immense I reckon.

Still a great looking car, a design milestone. The stage 1 map transforms the car, bring a whole new level of fun. You should also look at the Haldex controller changes, giving more rearward bias to the chassis.

Next time I need to take it out on track myself! I'd love to learn the track a bit more first, but paying Project Cars on the PS4 gives me terrible motion sickness. I might have to dig out Gran Turismo on the PS2, as I used to be fine with that. But I digress, it's a great car, and doesn't deserve the stick it gets from some quarters.

I had one for nearly 4 years.

They are overall a poor car. Look good though and sounded good with its V6.

If your only experience is show day taster sessions, then I'm not surprised your confidence is knocked. They tend to be a bit of a free for all.

A decent novice day at one of the MSV tracks isn't the cheapest option but you'll be amongst other learners and the day is structured to account for that.

Alternatively go along to one of the days run by any of the reputable companies and get some tuition at the start of the day and straight after lunch, then apply what you've learned and you find your confidence increasing each time you go out. Silverstone is the obvious choice being in Bucks but it's not the cheapest, Bedford or Donington are within reach. People will say Donington is a bit much for your first time but really any UK circuit is fine as long as you approach it with a sensible attitude and do a well run day.

Interestingly(...) I bought a 225 Roadster at the weekend so I share your excitement.

My dad has a 225 coupe.

I've got a thing for roadsters - I've had a rather-modified (handling wise) S2000 and a "Stage 2" 4.5V8'd Chimaera.

Whilst it lacks the grunt of the TVR, and the handling of the S - I actually think it's my favourite of the three. I'm astonished at the build quality. 15 years and 85k miles and there genuinely isn't a single rattle or out of place noise. The engine purrs and the gearbox is smooth. The paintwork was pretty awful but 17hrs with the machine polisher and several pots of wax and it looks glorious again (she's Red).

It's a bit squishy, and the brakes are a bit wooden but it's a nice change to be in something that doesn't feel like it's plotting to kill me.

Congrats OP - looks lovely. The wheels suit it!

Enjoyment wise there certainly is BAGS of grip - it favours bravery in the corners - plant the throttle and feel the rears come into action. I suspect they're pretty good at travelling cross-country, albeit lacking the flair of it's competition.

And they really are fantastic looking cars.

I've got this sticker somewhere from my S2K;

I really must do a thread of my own...

Here's "my" pair (...I need different wheels...)

Nice. I think I prefer them more now than when they were new.

Modern 'design language' has become too fussy I think, what with quadruple (and fake) grills, fins and body creases everywhere.
