Renaultsport Clio 197 cup
Discussion
After a spur of the moment decision made us change an R53 mini for a polo gti I've not been happy.
The polo was ok. But that was it. It missed the excitement of the mini and was sort of just boring. With 2 children changing back to a mini wasn't really an option. We did lol at the mini clubman but the wife didn't like the looks, describing a black one as looking "like a hearse" and while there was more rear leg room the boot size was still laughable.
We decided to look at Renaultsport clios instead. Our budget was a little low for a 200 but I started by looking for one with the optional recaro's.
I looked at a couple but it seems the recaro's really don't wear well and with the 2 kids I'm not actually sure how practical they are.
The wife also liked the look of the clios and they have a good sized boot so that settled it.
Spotted a race blue one at Evans Halshaw Worksop. Popped over on bank holiday Monday and collected Tuesday. A lot of people slate dealers but my experience was good. The salesman was a petrol head too and had a civic coupe track car.
It's a cup model so has no toys but is slightly lighter weight and has the cup suspension.
This one has good service history, including recent(ish) belts and is in very good condition.
The only pics I have at the minute are from my phone/Instagram (sorry) will dig out my camera when I have a few days off.

Very impressed with the car so far. Drives very nice, the cup suspension is firm but not uncomfortable and the brakes are brilliant.

I can't say there's any actual plans.
There's a set of Mats on their way to me (I know, kind of a big deal that).
There's a wish list of:
The cup spoiler, splitter and side skirts
Retrimmed FF steering wheel (possibly alcantara)
I've seen the top dash display trimmed in alcantara. That looks good.
Ferodo pads.
Upgraded discs
Cooksport springs
Silverstone wheels in white.
Exhaust and map out flat spot that usually comes with an exhaust in these.
Track days?
For now I'm just enjoying having something I really like, it's only a 6k Clio but I can't stop looking back at it when I park it up or out the window plus my phone is already filling up with pictures of it and theyre always good signs

already had 3 Renault hot hatches though, so ended up with an MCS this time round.
