My new R32 Skyline..!
Discussion
I’ve bought an R32 for my 12 Cars project (basically owning 12 cars I’ve always wanted to have in the space of 2-3 years, doing videos on each one..etch). It was from this forum so will be familiar to some.
It was imported in early 2015 by Jurgen at JM-Imports. The usual problem areas of rust (small patches on front of sills) were cut out and fresh metal welded in by JM-Imports’ body shop. It is really "unmolested" and I will keep it as is just sorting things out that need fixing. Remarkably the standard engine restrictor is still in place and has not been cut out so the car is still producing standard boost. I understand this is pretty rare? It still feels pretty strong though.
I wanted a standard R32 for the videos, the idea being that once I’ve had this a while I might sell and then buy modded car which makes way more sense than spending a fortune modifying this nice clean example. Modest mods are as follows:
Tomei HICAS digital lockout
HKS twin filters
Central locking and Viper alarm
NISMO Carbon gauges - have orginals
Uprated exhaust
Car is really good and straight, however there are a few areas that need attention. The engine bay is really incredibly clean and tidy, the head/valve cover has at some stage been repainted but aside from that all fasteners are remarkably clean and corrosion free. The fronts of the sills have there usual dings from hurried (incorrect) jacking, they have been straightened to some extent.
The interior needed lots of little things attending to, the door cards had damage and I’ve already replaced them. Seats were a bit grubby but a good clean has improved them considerably. The rear seat had a cigarette hole and has also been replaced. I am also looking for a standard steering wheel to replace the Momo quick release it has currently so if you have one let me know! It will be a late model wheel I need.
There was a terrible squeaking from the suspension. It appeared to be from the anti roll bar so with a mate we took it apart, lined it up properly (was slightly off top the side) and greased the bushes. That noise is now gone and replaced from another slightly less irritating noise from the top arms. These are adjustable ones and the bushes were replaced by JM with Polyflex ones. They either have not been installed properly or were the wrong ones for the aftermarket adjustable arms the car has. We assume that jacking the car on to full droop disturbed them and started the noise.. In any case I have a new set to replace them so hopefully that will sort it. Do need some standard top arm bolts though as the arms on the car use eccentric adjusters and the new arms (Driftworks) need standard bolts. Do you have any?
Car has the right original wheels but I’m looking for the centre caps.. If anyone has any! Also the wheels do look a bit lost in the wide arches.. If anyone has some bolt on spacers, at least 20mm then let me know.
I know for you guys keeping a car standard and cleaning it up is not that exciting.. But this is my first Jap car and I’m loving it. Just to recap if anyone has any of the following please let me know ASAP:
Standard late model steering wheel
Standard bolts for the top arms
Wheel centre caps
Sorry for the s
t pics.. I'll have bter ones soon. Cheers!

Someone on my street has one and it lives on the front garden. If I had one Id sleep in it to make sure it was ok.
Is the Supra yours as well?

Thanks guys!!Is the Supra yours as well?
Yes, pretty pleased with it! Supra is the previous owners...
Fixed the noise 90%.. Took the top suspension arm out on passenger side, was squeaking at both ends but only had the polyflex on the outer bush, incorrectly fitted. Took them apart then reassembled. The inners just looked too wide with rubber pushing outwards so I took them down so they were flush with the inner metal bush and now no more noise. just a tiny amount from driver side now but am going to clean and repaint all the front suspension and stuff so when I do that I'll also take that top arm apart and sort it out. Also cleaned car and its come up well.
