Cars to start:
There were a few cars to start non that exciting really . I learnt to drive in a Nissan Primera estate 2.0L, not very PH but at the age of 17, a 2.0 engine was excellent fun. So onto my own group of cars
First was a Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 with 4 of the most exciting gears known to man. I say exciting, I really mean 4 gears that worked and a car that went everywhere
Now I needed a bigger car , and what seemed a bit of a mind relapse, I was looking at 1.25 Fiat Puntos but ended up with a 1.4 Fiat Stilo, it did ok, but so many problems with it, eventually it had to go and I replaced it with :
MG ZR 1.4 105ps, loved it, seemed a bit racy and by racy I mean the suspension was harder than I have had before and the car felt like it was stuck to the road I loved the basicness of the interior and spent a few 000 miles tearing around .
It was the first car I started to clean properly. Eventually had a head gasket failure and after a few more miles patching it up and a road that had been resurfaced and after a raining, apparently it resurfaced the entire car and 4 brand new tyres,
I moved on.
Ford Focus 2.0 170 , 3 door: I am a bit of car head and loved all my cars, but this 170 was fantastic , especially compared to what I had previously owned.
I liked the look and feel of it, it was brilliant. And to be honest a car I looked into owning again, because I liked the way it worked.
Well I eventually moved on and only for one real reason, every car I had so far, had 5 seats . There is only me and a girl so didn’t need 5 seats, only 2 were required.
Opened up a new ball game, looked at many cars and got focused on the Nissan 350Z it had to have the GT pack with nice wheels and full leather. After a small look I found one which was quite close, as this time it really opened my eyes to what a road is and how they can be driven.
Fell in love with the roads in Wales and pretty much felt like I drove them all. The 350Z was excellent and had many days of fun.It also was the first car that brought me to my first PH Sunday Service at Goodwood. After only a few 1000 miles of driving, I had my license revoked due to being a diabetic, so any diabetics reading I suggest strongly keep your eyes on the testing, because a year out is a bit of a killer
Luckily my GF could also drive it so we didn’t stop visiting wonderful places around the UK. Give a year of waiting and got my license back.
Big smiles all round, however one major thing happened one Sunday afternoon, I was cleaning the car like normal and the pressure washer wasn’t properly fixed in and the end launched at the 350z putting a lovely dent on the bonnet. I was so annoyed and frustrated………….sell the car…………the 350z is now gone
So what is next……….. I choose the 350z so my mrs can choose the next one, she went for a 2003 BMW Z4 3.0L. Good work girl, excellent choice for a 3.0L, not great being a convertible but I didn’t mind really. One issue with the car is that there needed a few interior bits done on it, more like whole interior needed a few touch ups, I didn’t mind as it gave me something to do. One holiday booked, to somewhere exotic……that is correct, Wales again…….One thing I haven’t mentioned is every time we have been to Wales we have had the most incredible weather. And this time it was even better than incredible, roof down all day every day
Got the proposal to Girl here as well on EVO Triangle, spot on after 8 years ? On a side note I’m a cyclist of road and mountains. Everything was going well
August 2015 – a Friday of mountain biking 10 miles from home on a nice steep downhill bit always wearing a helmet (before people comment)……… I end up on my way to Cambridge hospital in a helicopter unconscious with brain damage
One of those days
3 Months in hospital: right hand side of my body won’t move, brain is trying to repair but the damage is already done oh…….and broken: collar bone, chest, ribs and my back.
London to Paris ride done this year, no stopping
Anyway back to cars……….. haven’t had one for about 9 months because of the crash and being banned again. DVLA now say I can drive, so the fun starts again
What to look for……..I looked at everything going, Honda Civic Type Rs, Ford Focus ST, Audis, Mercedes : a lot of was looked at
Looked at the Megane RS, liked the look and interior, wasn’t such a fan really that it was a Renault but ill get over it
I love it, nice smooth gearbox, great steering and acceleration
First small issue, rear light bulb started to flicker yesterday so need to pop that out and have a look
Also number plate added
