So today I sold my Ignis Sport 
Sad times, it was genuinely a great little car and hugely entertaining to drive. Quicker than I, and other drivers, seemed to expect and quite rare and interesting. Met a lot of car people who had no idea what it was and it was cheap to run etc. Will be missed a bit, final pics this morning after a thorough clean as it's been a lot of gardening materials, plants, soil, seed etc recently.
Anyway, probably won't miss it as I needed a bigger car, ideally an estate, for work and house stuff (maybe even kids sometime soon) and settled on a MK2 Octavia VRs if I could find one that hadn't done 120,000 miles. And then this turned up 5 miles away, with a full Skoda service history and low miles (66k):
Wasn't sold on the black wheels at first (a blue one with silver wheels was the aim) but in the flesh I really liked it. Lovely red and the black works, if a bit 'bad boy'. It's been well kept, premium tires (P zero nero etc) on every corner and it's just a nice place to be compared to the budget Jap cars I've always had (FTO, mx-5 mk2, Ignis).
And it drives really well, engine is silent on tickover but it pulls very well when going and is sooooo smooth. Feels quicker than my FTO even though the bhp figures match (do miss the v6 roar though).
Very happy so far after a quick zoom around Somerset and think it will hopefully be really practical and useful whilst still a bit fun and unusual.

I am now rather envious of yours though, the mk3 is a good looking car and it looks great in that colour.

Where was your remap done and what kind of change can you expect to bhp/torque figures?

That looks great! I've got a big soft spot for discreet, quick estates! the black wheels offset the Red paintwork really well! It looks a lot better than the black on black on black that my car is at the moment! I'll keep an eye out for you!
Yeah I can probably be spotted a mile away now in Bristol so I'll have to be on good behaviour. I'll keep my eyes peeled for your black (murdered out?) beast.Expect I'll put a subtle red PH sticker on at some point too.
In hind sight 3 trips with it filled up with wood like that was a bad idea, the rear suspension isn't the same as it was!
Had mine remapped at a VAG specialist in Manchester. Not sure on torque but bhp is up to around 250 from 200 and it makes a big difference! Mine is the TSi engine though but I believe it's the same figures with the TFSI engine in yours. MPG unaffected as well which is a bonus.
Needs more noise though now, they're too quiet for me so looking at adding a VW racing intake or a cat-back Milltek.

I was amazed by just how quiet it is. Tickover is silent and even foot to the floor is very tame. I don't mind it at the moment as I like the stealthy aspect and it means my girlfriend is a bit less scared in the passenger seat as she associates noise with speed...Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
