Well after being Alfa less for a few years (156 2.0 t-spark to 145 1.8 t spark to 156 2.4 JTD sportwagon to no Alfafrown ) I finally decided to take the plunge and get the Alfa I'd always wanted from the moment I first saw & read the review on the 916 in autocar in the late 1990's

so I got this little beauty a 1998 Phase 1 2.0 T Spark Alfa Romeo 916 smile

Had it just over a year and have done about 3000-3500 miles so far. its has been reliable and I've taken it to the Afla Spring day & the National Alfa day. Its a hobby/weekend/ if its sunny drive to work car.

I plan to do as much of the maintenance myself as I feel confident doing (won't do the cam belt I'll leave that to the Pro's)
but I've done these jobs so far

new rear hood screen
front discs & pads
front wishbones & ARB drop links
oil - filter change (went with 5w-40 full syn oil)
stripped the centre console dash to remove old stick paint (common issue on Phase 1's) repainted silver see photo

replaced drivers seat (replacement came form lefthand drive) so was in good condition.
replaced rudder door seals
replaced thermostat & water hoses with red Autousso silicon ones (replaced all coolant at same time)
replaced induction hose with red Autolusso silicon one
striped side sill covers and repaired sills (mangled by being jacked up on) waxoiled under side (no rust found fortunately)
replaced all brake hoses with HEL braided stainless steel red hoses
replace brake & clutch fluid.
replaced front & middle exhaust (thinking of stainless steel cat back maybe next year)
new speakers all round and USB head unit.
new battery cover which was missing

Car is driving nicely at present so am just enjoying the roof down motoring (which this summer has been a good few days) Roof is manual, and really easy to use (no electrics to cock up too wink)
