Pearl white 2016 GT86
Discussion
Hey guys,
Had my GT86 about a month now, thought I'd put a thread in here, I'll start from the beginning..
Was running a 2016 Skoda rapid spaceback 1.2tsi sport, which for the driving I was doing was perfect, 54 miles each day for work, mainly country road, and was returning about 50mpg, and only costing £30 a year to tax. Nice little car which I bought brand new, had just had its first service, and I had no intentions to change it.

I then moved much closer to work, and was idly browsing autotrader one afternoon, and wondered what the part ex value on it would be, and was pleasantly surprised that with a little added I could get into a GT86, 2013 ish. I sent off a few enquiries but found that all the ones I was interested in had sold, and at this point I'd still not even seen one in the flesh let alone driven one.
One popped up at my local carshop branch, so I thought I'd pop in just for a look, and as usual I was accosted into talking figures and payments, before I'd even laid eyes on the car. After they decided I couldnt afford it, mainly due to their laughably low part ex, I eventually got to even have a look at it, and I was suitably impressed. This was a 13 plate, priced way above other 13 plates, so granted I never intended to buy it but they didn't even entertain me! Safe to say it's still sitting there now, and I've been back since buying mine with a mate who was interested in a Fiesta ST and they tried to sell it to him, I stepped forward and explained my situation and showed them a picture of mine, just to prove a point. Childish I know but had to be done!
I then started looking again, and found my local toyota had an ex demo, aero model, 65 plate, and when looking at the figures didn't work out much more than the 13 plate, so I contacted the dealer and we had a chat, and he invited me in for a test drive. In I went on a Saturday afternoon, and we went out, firstly with him driving and then we swapped over for some B roads. We got back to the dealership and he asked what I thought, then said he didn't need an answer he could tell by my face!! I still wasn't completely sold by the aero's looks, and hadn't originally intended to spend that much, so went home to think about it and check my finances etc etc.
I then used carwow to see what prices could be had, and was contacted by a dealer with an ex demo 16 plate, for less than the aero, with less miles. After a bit of a chat I managed to get some more knocked off, so decided to go for it! Put a deposit down over the phone and collected the Friday. Cajoled a mate into coming with me with the promise of food, and off we went.

Drive back was good but uneventful, mainly A roads and that's not what the car is about..
Got back and promptly started helping my mate move in with me, turns out you can't get much in the boot of one of these, but did mean I got to play on some B roads and it was wonderful!!

Obviously tinkering had to occur, first port of call was a carbon wrapped part of the dashboard with had scuff marks, dealer wasn't interested in sorting it so I done it myself, have wrapped car parts previously so went for it, I'm happy with the outcome and think it suits the car nicely, possibly a matter of opinion though, but I love it and that's all that matters!

I then decided the rear windows needed tinting, so took it off to a place I was recommended, ended up getting the back three for £65, which I thought was a really good price!

Also decided that the calipers would look much better red, to go with the interior and also make them stand out a bit! One tin of caliper paint and a whole afternoon spent at awkward angles it was done!

Last of all I thought it lacked on the rear end due to the lack of spoiler, so when the one I ordered before I'd even picked up the car arrived on Wednesday, a mere 3 weeks after payment, duly fitted that too! Went off for a few photo's with my mate who has the same car as I used to have but in a different colour.

That's how it sits now and probably will for a while, tempted to wrap the wing mirror covers in black and then the small bits with the GT86 bage on the front wing but not 100% sure yet.. Just enjoying driving it, and I know I made the right decision when I smile each time I get in it!!

Hi mate!
Small world...
I'm sitting next to the salesman you bought the car off who says sorry about the dash!!!
We spoke on the phone a couple of times and exchanged some emails.
Good to to hear you're happy with the car, be sure to bring it along to some local events
Let us know if you need anything,
Connor
