I’m new to blogging and forum posting so please feel free to comment on my work as you see fit.

As some of you may be aware I recently purchased a Nissan 370Z Nismo, Black Oct 2016 (875miles), I managed to get a deal via the main dealer. £29,500 they wanted £30,500, this included first years road tax and 1 years extended warranty which expires Oct 2020.

The journey to me purchasing a 370Z
I wanted an ex-demo sports car. I started my search with a trip to my local Porsche dealer in Cambridge and drove the demo 718 and it was fantastic the car was very fast and it seemed to handle extremely, the only downside was the sound from the exhaust and the cost was circa 40k+. After test driving the 718 I went to test drive a GT86, The GT86 was a great car I really felt I could get the most out of the car and thrash it about B and C Roads, I was sold, but one of my friends said why don’t I try a 370Z. As you can imagine I went to my local Nissan dealer which is in Norwich and test drove their demo 370Z and it was fantastic it didn’t handle as well as the 718 or GT86 but the sound from the lovely V6 was awesome compared to the other mentioned cars. One feature I liked was the rev matching which made me feel like a race driver 😃!!! (Sad but it’s the small things I guess). So there you have it that was my journey to purchasing a 370Z Nismo from Desira Nissan Norwich.

Ownership
I have had the 370Z now for 1 month and I can strongly say I have fallen in love with the car. I love the build up in speed it's so easy to control compared to your turbocharged rear-wheel drive cars. Every time I drive the car I feel as if I can push a little harder each time, it has built my confidence and I feel as if I have become a faster driver as a result. One of the best moments was when I parked the car next to a Ford Focus RS 2017 you could over heard people say they preferred the look of the 370Z which put a little smile on my face. I know the Focus could destroy my 370Z around a track and in a straight line, but still a small victory lol. I will keep this thread updated as I continue to learn more about the car.

As mentioned above I welcome all your comments good or bad.

I'm interested mostly in how I can improve my driving ability to get the most out of the 370Z because I believe the car is fast enough for the UK roads without and modifications.

I'm a big fan of the 370z and GT86 and torn between the two, if someone could give the GT86 the noise of the 370z then I'd be happy

I'd suggest going on a beginner friendly track day to explore the limits of the car in a controlled environment

Thanks for posting. The 370Z is one of a rare bread of RWD sports cars these days, with quite an analogue feel.

Quite forgotten, yet a great drive. I think there will be a resurgence for these at some stage, provided we're not all driving Electric stuff by then!

I'm also a big fan of the GT86, but having some grunt, a few more toys and a pleasant engine note, goes a long way on our congested roads.

Some pictures please smile

Small update, I have ordered some KN panel air filters.
They should be here early next week, looking forward to installing them and reaping some extra torque and horsepower.

See below an image of mine and my mates car

That is depressing, at least I'll get a slightly throatier sound from the engine.

Do you fancy more pictures of the 370Z?

Loved ours, real sad day the day it went.

Get an ark grip exhaust from the US. Sounds bloody lovely and is a work of art.

Saw a White Nismo one the other day, cracking looking cars IMO.

Guessing they are quite 'old school' in the way they drive and feel ?

I had a 370 as a courtesy a few years ago whilst my gtr was being serviced, It went pretty well, and a few times I found myself going much faster than I thought I was.

I d imagine given the used gtrs falling price I can't imagine to many people opt for one of these .

Hi All, I'm back to give you all an update.

I'm loving car and now gaining more confidence with deactivating traction control and letting the rear end slip and catching it :-)

Anyway I just wondering what you PH's think is worth upgrading?

Upgrades suggestions
18'' alloys wheels
Tyres, maybe pilot sports
New brake discs "just in case I fancy tracking it"
Remap - I have thought about having a 1/2 day testing and remap.

Love these.

I have a NA straight 6, RWD, manual too (330i) so these and the 350z always appealed to me. Just love the sound and delivery of a good 6. I also would buy the car over its competition for that rev match! I'm learning rev matching manually now though, but I would enjoy not bending my knee the wrong way.

If you want to track it, then don't bother changing your discs - you'll gain minimal amounts from disc, but major benefits from pads. The first thing to research is how the OEM pads perform on track, in terms of heat, degradation and fade. If they the consensus is they're fine then just take it as is.

Car looks great! Love that it's the Nismo too, apparently they sorted the damping for it.

If you want to do a trackday, as above, better brake pads and DOT5.1 brake fluid would be my recommendation. If you get seriously into it you may need a cooling upgrade (rad?), as EVO found it getting a bit hot at Anglesey IIRC. But don't get into major upgrades until you've dipped your toe in the waters on track, no harm trying it out first. I do think a trackday and taking up the offer of tuition is very helpful in driving better.

For wheels I think it would look good on any of the classic Japanese wheels; if you're upgrading wheels make sure to get some lighter than stock, and reap the benefits in ride & handling with the lower unsprung weight.

Tyres tend to be a bit car-specific I think, so maybe look to what other Z34 owners have liked? I like the Advan Neova AD08s on my RX-7, but unsure how it would work on your car.

I'd be sceptical of any real benefits from a remap on a naturally-aspirated car that already makes nearly 100 hp/litre, there can't be much more to gain surely?

The stock nismo wheels are forged and pretty good weight wise as well it wouldnt be cheap to get an improvement to them

Cooling tends to be improved on all post 2012 370z's so you shouldnt have an issue , fitting an aftermarket oil cooler can be tricky due to the extra hardware on the Nismo there is less space

Remaps typically make around 10-15 hp more ie hardly noticable but the throttle map is altered so the car does feel a lot more lively and responsive , similar feeling can be found with a sprintbooster which is easy to remove in the case of warranty issues unlike a remap wink

Best mod imo on 370's is tyres and then a diff like a quaife, fitting Michelin pilot super sports was the best thing i ever did , and I had a supercharged 370z

Some decent pads and a set of cup 2's.

You'd be better with some racing dot4 rather than dot5.1 but I wouldn't bother unless you actually find you're having a problem with boiling fluid.

Hi Patch888

I'm about 70 miles away from Huntingdon.

Little update:

I have booked the car in for a Dyno and ECU tweaking session next week.
This will be interesting as I'll know how much power the Nismo is producing at the wheels.

on a side note, I've been looking at the BMW M2 DCT, but I still love the Nismo to much
