1 year with a Fiesta ST

Well last week was my 1 year Fiestaversary. In that time i've done 20,000 mostly hastle free miles. Here it is the day I bought it:
When I bought the car, I was commuting 100 miles a day. But the motorway was not the Fiesta's friend. The stiff suspension meant the car was quite jiggly on the road and I felt quite beaten up after a stretch on the M25! Some people disagree and say its not too bad, but I came from a 140,000 mile Skoda Fabia vrs where the set up was much softer. However the MPG was pretty good, low to mid 40's without being careful. But now, my commute has shortened to 5 miles, much better!!
Do I still like it?
Yes! A lot! Its so much fun to drive and looks great. The way it can handle a B road is incredible, lots of grip and huge amounts of traction out of corners. I also like the way you can have some fun with the rear, lift off mid bend and it will start to twitch, very satisfying.
Any problems?
A few, yes. After a few months of ownership a ticking noise made itself known in the engine bay. This turned out to be a fuel pressure valve that was faulty. It was changed under warranty. An LED sill bulb blew as well, that was replaced under warranty as its a sealed unit.
Ford also managed to overfill the car with oil at a service, more annoying than a problem as I had to drain some myself.
A few months after I found the wheels were starting to corrode and bubble up. I pointed it out to the dealer and they emailed pics to Ford UK. Very soon after, a new set were sent my way. And have been fitted today!!

Does it cost much to run?
No. Costs so far have been 1 service (£189) and...that's it. I just put fuel in it, tax and insure it. Tax is £130 and insurance, for a 24 year old with 7 years experience and no claims, is £560.
The MPG is pretty good. For example i've just driven 48 miles on motorway, stuck at 70-75 and got 51mpg around town and commuting this drops to 35 ish.
Would I recommend?
If you can live with the slightly bad ride quality then yes, definitely!

I've been desperate for one of these ever since I saw the first pictures! But due to now having a child and needing a slightly larger boot and realistically 5 doors, they just don't fit the bill any more unfortunately. Maybe in a few years when the boy can get in the back by himself!

Well if you can cope with boot, they now sell a 5 door!My girlfriend has one and I have to agree about the ride quality but it's the price you pay for the fantastic handling, it's such a nimble little car. It's perfect for her because she's got quite a heavy right foot and it's not enormously powerful, basically fast enough but very forgiving.
She beat Hendy Ford up on the servicing paying about £120-130 if memory serves. Only minor niggle was a rattle in the back which they sorted in a day. As you say they are very cheap to run, driven hard they will eat tyres but at £100/corner for a premium brand they don't break the bank.

Never understand how people get these mpg figures. I never get near that in mine. around town and commuting this drops to 35 ish.Avg is about 42mpg
Never seen 50 or more
My average is35mpg couldn't get it lower if I tried.
Highest on a run is 50ish 60mph with cruise. Who cares though
Had mine 8 months from new and done 12k and I'm bored of it to be honest.
Ride is awful around town and really grates on me, especially having to explain to passengers why it's so hard. Just no need.
